Sounds like the bearings may be getting bad. That can ccause the same operating to become more noticeable. if it starts to make a growling noise you will need to replace it to prevent any internal damage to the chassis. This will also likely result in premature lamp failure. I would order a replacement fan.

My 7-yr-old sony wega keeps restarting; blinks 30 times then video comes back on

Two things here to suggest: one is lamp life is 2000 hours or two years average--and many lamps that fail will either dim just a bit, take a bit longer than did to come up to full brightness and the set may detect that and try to blank the screen.

I am saying a lamp even if lamp light does not come on may be the problem or not.

Second, and I have seen this a lot, the fans in the set intake air in the front of the unit and exhaust it out the rear and no matter how clean the house is dust will get pulled inside.

Fans and air-path's can get coated with dust. Especially the blades on the fans, if a fan slows down just a little because of dust on its blades the set will also detect it as it monitors fan speeds etc.

A good dusting out with compressed air (try not to blow the dust into the screen area) will either confirm this or eliminate it as the problem. I almost always do it in the garage or outside as it may look like a dust storm when you do it.

These are my thoughts and I hope they may help you resolve your problem.

Our tv recently displayed projection lamp was about to go out and needed changed, so i purchased a new lamp assembly and replaced it. tv worked good as new for a few days, then in the middle of watching tv...

Most often, I find when servicing these televisions, the lamp has failed but it was due to poor fan circulation. This television has at least 3 if not 4 fans. If you take off the back and find these fans are filled with impacted dust, the fan may be causing the failure. Also check to be certain your door safety switch is making good contact. These tips should ber of assistance but check your fans. A clean inside of a tv is a happy tv!

I have a sony 52sony flat screen, and my tv comes on for a little while and then goes out, this goes on all day comes on for about 5min and off for about 1min or longer.

This is a way for the tv to prevent internal failure because it is getting too hot. Make sure your cooling fans are working properly. A can of compressed air works good to clean out the dust if its just dirty.

this is a symptom of a bad lamp. for some reason it won't spit out a lamp error. shaking up the lamp will sometimes fix temporarily but you will find replacing to be the answer. if your tv has a fan error, you will get 4 red blinks.

Good Day, boattech1;
To my understanding the Model 53UDX10B is a rear projection, that uses no fans. I think maybe your LAMP may be getting weak.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

Sony Grand WEGA KDF-60XS955 60 in. Rear Projection popped and turned off

the reason your lamp blew so quickly is the the lamp fan has become cloged with dust. this is a known problem by sony and I have done 15 or so of the up grades needed. first look at the lamp door is it discolored and warped. if so have a tech order the up grade kit which includes a new door, siraco fan, thermal fuse, and lamp. the return fan may also be needed. also some service menu changes need to be made with the fan voltages of fan 1 and fan2.
