Most times when this occurrs, there is a problem with the power supply inside the unit. It is possible that the motherboard is not telling the power supply to turn on. Any time the computer is plugged in, the power supply provides 5V as a standby voltage. Pressing the power button sends a signal for the remainder of the power supply to start up. If the 5V supply is not present, no action will occur. Try replacing the power supply.

OS Maverick very slow after time capsule backup

Use the App "Activity Monitor" to see what process is driving hard. if not already open: open the activity monitor window. Click the CPU% tab and show highest percentages at the top (should be an upside down triangle) may have to click the CPU% twice to do this. now the Activity monitor is showing you what processes are eating up your computers power. Google the process/es . It may be indexing the drive, which can take a long time. there are other processes too, that you should just let it do. once they are done, then things should be good. Such is the case for me when I upgraded to Mavericks.

Blue mode box keeps popping up

Any unit, this monitor, a TV a DVD etc that has front push type buttons can have this issue.

Behind each "button" is a tiny micro switch--the outer button activates it and it is a MOMENTARY switch which means when the outer button is released it should stop functioning.

If you follow this what likely is bad is the micro switch under that specific button.

The switch will feel fine and seem ok but it is activating inside and what ever it controls will act.

Two ways to prove/disprove this.

Gain access to the individual switch (mode in your case) and unsolder it from the board they are usually mounted into--get the unit up and on and see if the problem persists or not.

Second way, with the buttons accessed take a good ohm meter and read across the two typical pins for each switch---there should be not be a bit of a reading unless the switch is manually activated---I have seen ones reading 4000 ohms and even more or less--even with switch out of the circuit.

Even that resistance is enough to activate the switch.

Prove for yourself that I am either right or wrong in your case.

Monitor just goes dead. now, when i turn on computer, it wont come on at all. i am having to use my laptop to send this message,

Check first the power cable, by removing the power cable of your monitor and plug it again. Also, remove the power cord to the power supply and connect it again. Try to open the monitor to check if it is working and mabye some loose connection only.

How to know if the monitor is totally dead?

Generally, if the power light (LED) doesn't come on and there is no screen display with or without input signal, it's dead. Probably a failed power supply.

CP685AVR/BF685 Power Contro.

It is likely the battery. These batteries are designed to last 3-6 years in a UPS. The good news is that if it is the battery, it is completely user replaceable and you'll have a Cyber Power unit that works just like new with a new battery. What may have happened is that the battery was weak, and you may have had a slight dip in the AC power. This caused the Cyberpower unit to switch over to the weak battery which couldn't handle the load. The unit then turned off. When you press the "ON" button, the unit will go through a self-test that checks all of the components and the unit will not turn on and be functional unless all of the components come back with a PASS, including the battery. If possible, test the battery with a voltmeter, it should read around 13.5, but not lower than 11.5v DC. However, with the unit over 3 years old, it almost certainly the battery. Here's a link to a replacement battery for the CP685AVR: http://www.batteryinternational.com/cyber-power-cp685avr-ups-battery-ups-batteries-f1.html

Hope this helps.

Will not stay on

Under normal circumstances, a computer monitor will not remain powered up if it is not receiving a signal from the cpu. Whether or not this is the problem in your case is difficult to say. First steps would be to check all the cable connections to the monitor and cpu, and if that doesn't solve the problem, try another monitor with your cpu to see if it truly is your monitor that is bad or if what you describe is just a symptom of a larger problem. Good luck!

Monitor doesn't work

I'd try this monitor on a spare computer. It sounds like the video card (motherboard integrated or otherwise)is not putting out any video information or missing sync signals. The monitor must receive these signals or it will go into standy/sleep mode. If the computer has integrated (on motherboard) video, check your bios settings to see if it is properly enabled. If it has a slot video board, then try a different video board. Your present board might be dead. Another possibility is a bad cable connection. check the connectors for bent pins. Assuming the connector is the standard HDB-15, it is easy to bend a pin over.
