Most times when this occurrs, there is a problem with the power supply inside the unit. It is possible that the motherboard is not telling the power supply to turn on. Any time the computer is plugged in, the power supply provides 5V as a standby voltage. Pressing the power button sends a signal for the remainder of the power supply to start up. If the 5V supply is not present, no action will occur. Try replacing the power supply.

How do I fix my no source signal?

If you are referring to "no source, no signal or check your monitor cable", or something like that message on your screen, it means the monitor is not able to connect or "read" your computer unit.

The first thing you can do is check the cable that goes from the monitor to the computer if it's loose. Try the monitor on other computers using the same cable if it works. You may also try switching cables.

If it is working, do the troubleshooting on the desktop computer side, check the power cable if it's securely plugged-in. Check the power outlet. If you're done checking the obvious and still not working, have it checked by an experienced computer service technician.

Thank you for using fixya, hope this info helps you.

Check that you hooked up all the power supply connections. Try a new motherboard battery as the old one may be dead and the bios is not working. You are evidently not getting a post beep signaling that the cpu, ram, video are good.

When i on my desktop it show blue screen and says no signal analog

That means that the monitor is not getting a signal from the computer. There are several possible issues involved. 1) Make sure that the computer tower is on. 2) Check that the video cable is connected to the active port on the desktop. (Computers often have video connections on the motherboard and an added video card. The motherboard connection is disabled when the video card is active. Similarly if there are several ports (VGA, DVI, HDMI, Display port) only one may be active.) 3) Try a new video cable (if possible) and one of the other video ports (again if possible). 4) Try connecting a different monitor to the computer or connecting this monitor to another computer.

Open up the computer and check if the card requires a separate power connection to the power supply. Make sure it is plugged in. Do the fans in the computer spin up?

If a second monitor doesn't work or the monitor works on another computer, then the problem is with the video adapter on the computer, the power supply or the power switch. Please add a comment with more information about the type of desktop and the current video graphics adapter (on the motherboard or separate card). I will provide additional help if possible.

(who has a computer in the company that needed a new monitor (power supply failed) a few months ago and lost the fan on the video card last week. Without the fan, the card overheated and shut down. Thus no signal to the monitor.)

Veriton 7600gt why no output video is going to the monitor

Hi mellomoris,

Sometimes we wonder why there is no video output on the monitor or we just get "no signal" display. This may happen if the vga cable or the cable that connects from the monitor to the system unit (tower) is loose. It also happens when the monitor has power but the system unit is not turned on. In this case, you can try to do the steps below if it can resolve the issue. (This works with others, I hope it'll work on yours.)

- Sheck the cables and connections to make sure that they're securely plugged in.
- If you have another monitor, please try to plug it in.
- Try to check if there is activity on your harddrive or fan, issue might not be with the monitor but with the system unit.

Hope this helps.

I have a acer m 1620. when i power it up the screen comes on and say no signal and then goes black. the fan comes on and continues to run but thats it. does anyone have any ideas?

It sounds like the video cable is loose, try unplugging it and plugging it back in. Also check if the screws on the video cable are tightened. If this does not work the graphics card has likely failed.

The power light keeps flashing orange when trying to switch my pc on i only get an orange flashing light no other life in it whatsoever........

It means to say that it is not getting enough power on the computer, check the power cable at the back of the tower and make sure the power cable is connected tightly. You can try taking it out and then putting it back in again to make sure it is connected firmly.

Have you tried another monitor with the computer to make sure you have signal coming out? If you have missing or corrupt video drivers in the computer or have memory seated on the motherboard incorrectly it will cause the same symptoms. If you have checked all these before now, disregard this.
I know that monitors do go out, but rarely. 90% of the time , it's not getting a signal from the computer due to a freeze from hardware or computer driver issue.

My emachines monitor has no picture, hard drive is functioning properly. Monitor is black

if you do not get a screen with a LCD monitor its likely you have a inverter problem or BACKLIGHT problem. you might need to replace the LCD backlight or replace the monitor on the desktop.
check to see if the laptop can get a picture by plugging in a monitor to it, im sure theres a connection for external monitor.

theres also a FN (function key) command to switch from lcd to external monitor. always test before commiting to replacing a monitor.

The desktop, you might want to test another monitor on the desktop just to be sure the monitor is gone or dead. if you see on the monitor a OSD saying "No power or No Signal" or you can pull up the OSD(on screen display menu). then the monitor is not dead.

might be the computer even though the computer powers up doesnt always mean the computer is working.

i would check the motherboard for blown capacitors or funky smelling(burnt plastic)aroma. Make sure the computer is off before checking.

thanks

Samsung monitor

Try to plug the monitor into another computer and see if the problem reappears.

If the problem reappears - you have a monitor failure...if not, try checking the monitor connection at the computer side for bent pins or loose video card in your computer and test again.

Lastly, make sure your computer is not coming out of hibernation power mode (control panel, power settings etc).

Hope this helps!
