Question about Televison & Video

Recently bought strong Satellite system, have Astra 2ab and hotbird,so have 2 dishes.Got 2 box's installed, one in bedroom upstairs, one downstairs..The box upstairs works perfectly no problems!.The one downstairs, nothing but problems, even though its set up exactly as the one upstairs.Sometimes the picture freezes and 'no or bad signal appears on the screen. At other times when trying to get a signal so I can tune in stations,no signal will come up on either Astra or hot-bird..And sometimes when I switch on the box first thing in the morning,lo and behold the signal is back! When i get the signal back, the picture quality is excellent!.But say i try to get onto a station like aljazeera, its not long before it freezes and again 'no or bad signal appears..If i change to a station with a signal and flick back to aljazeera it will work for a minute or two before that dreaded 'no or bad signal raises its ugly head. Can anyone help out there?..Bruce

YEAH.
YOU ARE USING TWO BOXES RIGHT.
ONE IS MOTHER BOX IN THAT. I MEAN THE FIRST ONE.

THE SIGNAL NEEDED FROM THE DISH IS NOT SUFFICIENT

first the exchange the defective box in sitting you have with the prefect one in bedroom. if that is working fine then u can narrow the problem with the exact spot.

even if the good box is giving same problem in sitting room then i think you wil go for a booster.
    use a booster.
    problem over.

    thank you

    good luck

  • dewan nafees ahmed Mar 18, 2008

    ya sir. thanks for reply.

what i told you to try is a very simple try.
you can do it by yourself.
just interchange the boxes and see if the problem prevails.

if problem still remains the you will need a booster surely.

I have a foxstat -HDR humax box and I am getting no or bad signal on the TV downstairs. I can get some channels but not all.

I suspect that the box upstairs is a Freesat box; a Freeview box requires a feed from an aerial, not a dish.

The problem you are seeing may be caused by water in the cables, if they are not sealed at the LNB. The LNB may be failing, but dish misalignment is more likely.

As there is an unused output on the LNB, try swapping one of the feeds with a poor signal to it.

You need to find out if you remote is infrared or radio frequency. If infrared then there are remote extender devices that you can purchase to use your remote. If it is RF, then your search would be the RF remote extender box.

Hello! I haven't a problem Yet! I am contemplating buying a used "owned" Dish single tuner PVR 508 and adding it to my current configuration. My home is 2 years old and wired for cable in 5...

Hello, this Luke. Hooking the 508 to any TV is just like hooking a DVD to TV. Just used whichever cable available to you. e.g. RCA, coax. But if you want to have Satellite programming to that receiver, that would be a different thing. You will have to call Dish to add that receiver to your account with them. They will verify that receiver if it is registered to an account with debt and add it to your account if it is clear. They might need to send an installer to hook it up. Let me know if this help.

Hey there! Becki Barned from Dish Network customer service here!!! If you want to do this! You would need a tech to come out and install the DVRs in the new rooms. If you try to move the reveivers, you will only get an Acquiring Satellite Signal message. If this has not been resolved, you can find us on Twitter, or blog back!

Zone cooling not delivering adequate air to both zones simultaneo

You need to have someone evaluate the ductwork for the home. With all zones calling, there should be an even balance of airflow. And when only one zone is calling, there should not be the tornado effect you describe.

The dampers feeding each zone may be of the wrong size. It also sounds as though you are also having a problem with your bypass damper. This damper is designed to bypass excess air when only one zone is calling. It is operated typically off the airflow alone.

Have it check out. You definitely have a problem. I would recommend getting it looked at by a company other than the installing company to remove any bias judgment or diagnosis.

Hi, I have a digital tv plugged into an extension cable in an upstairs (Toshiba) bedroom; it works perfectly - receiving all channels. I have a digital tv downstairs (Samsung) where it seems the wall...

Hi Fiona
Somewhere along the line from the aerial there must be a signal splitter that feeds the upstair and downstair terminals.
Try to find that splitter and switch the output to see if the problem goes from up to downstair.
If it does switch then you know the problem is with the splitter block, and if it stays the same then the problem is with the cable and/or the connectors that run downstairs.
Also the reason you get a pixellated(snowy) picture is because of signal loss during the length of the cable you ran downstair.
If running a cable downstair becomes the best option to fix your problem , then you could buy a cheap 10db signal booster/r.f amplifier to correct the signal loss and a cable splitter to feed both tv`s
That booster would be installed upstair in your case(near the source of the signal to be amplified).
I could send you a small diagram if need be. Hope this will help and Merry Chrismas

Heating blowing coo air downstairs and warm upstairs?

Some of this depends on where the air handler/furnace is located. Most often in two story houses, it's in the attic upstairs, or in a closet upstairs. A duct routes air from the furnace to the downstairs supply duct, so it is a distance from the air handler.
When the unit first initiates a heating cycle, that duct is going to be full of cool air, and the duct itself will be cool. So the furnace has to run long enough to push the cool air out, as well as warm the duct up, before your going to feel warm air at the registers downstairs.

Keep in mind, heat rises. And, your thermostat only monitors the immediate area where it's located. In your case, upstairs.
Two story houses are problematic because of this. And one way around it is to have a damper system installed that distributes the air upstairs or downstairs based on a thermostat located in those spaces. There would be 2 dampers, and 2 thermostats (one upstairs, one downstairs). Each stat would control a damper, and the call for heat or cooling.

Let me know if you would like to consider a system like this, and I can point you to components to use. I've put several system like this in.

Digital television signals

What type of digital tv signal? Satellite or OTA (Local Digital Antenna Channels)?

What type of equipment is the split signal going to? Straight to the tv's or some sort of Satellite or HDTV Tuner box?

Dish network box hookup question.

Are you sure that the antenna in isn't threaded? You may be looking at the wrong jack... All antenna inputs are threaded co-axial "F" connectors. If you ARE sure, could you post a pic of the back panel?
