I have a 96 dakota wont start got fuil and spark even sprayed starting fluid in it and still wont start it cranks over but wont start new crank shaft sensor coil wires traced all the wires everything is good computer is good someone said it could be the starter solenoid didnt try it yet cause someone said if it was that it wouldnt crank over can anyone help
Try removing the spark plugs and squirt some oil into the cylinders. If it runs or there is signs of combustion when
using starting fluid, then do a compression test. Valves maybe stuck or leaking. piston rings broken. Wrongly set distributor or timing belt/chain.

Check distributor. Remove cap and examine components. There should be a rotor and a triggering device on the shaft which tells the computer when to fire. Make sure the shaft turns by having someone to crank it while you watch. If it doesn't turn your timing chain or belt is broken
Kelly, could be a few issues, security lock out, crank sensor, fuel pump fuse/relay, faulty new pump,faulty ignition switch, etc. Attached links may help you diagnose the crank no start issue you are having.

very possible if you have a security light or anti theft light coming on flashing yes that's the problem is not check for spark anD fuel if you have spark try spraying starter fluid through the intake if it cranks then you may have a problem with a cam sensor
Two basics; fuel supply and ignition. Neither of these are difficult to check but for in-hand assistance, a service manual is a good investment and we like Haynes:

Always check for spark at the coil first,than see if its going to the spark plugs, I have had bad crank sensor and truck still started.But did you do a scan,get it scaned and see what codes it shows.
Do you have spark? Do you have fuel? Which are you missing? TIP.A quick check for spark.........give it a spray of starting fluid....if it runs....you've got spark. No spark usually means......a bad coil or ignition module on the 3.9. No fuel is usually caused by a bad fuel pump.
Air/fuel/spark. check the 3, and then do a dummy test. I know , im not insulting you, but my dakota wont start if my gascap isnt screwed down all the way, it throws a sensor and it wont start. So just do all the dummy stuff you know has to be done to start it, put it in park, close all the doors, stuff like that, never know, could be something simple. if not, as above, Air/fuel/spark. need all 3 to start an engine.
1.) spray engine starting fluid into air intake ---remove air filter if necessary. 2.) if ignition only on this spray, then seek bad fuel supply problem. 3.) if no ignition, check for spark.
