My computer just stop to producing sound from speakers even the welcoming window xp sound,

Hi,

The audio driver might have been corrupted. You just need to download the appropriate audio driver for your motherboard. Go to the Device Manager and install all missing drivers for "Unknown Devices". Either connect to the internet or use the driver disc which came with your motherboard.

For those who doesn't know how to access Device Manager, please follow the steps below.

For Windows XP:
Start -> Run -> Type devmgmt.msc (in the box) -> Right click Unknown device -> Properties -> Driver tab -> Update driver

For Windows Vista and Windows 7
Start -> Type devmgmt.msc (in the start search box) -> Right click Unknown device -> Properties -> Driver tab -> Update driver

Hope this helps.

After installing windows 7 the sound drives were not working , no sound

Hi,

Check Device Manager to for any "unknown devices", your audio device driver might be one of those. Unknown devices usually appears if the device driver (ex. audio driver) is not installed. You can also find an "exclamation point" under "Sound, video and game controllers" if there is conflict on the driver causing no audio to be heard from the unit.

To resolve the issue, you can either use the Drivers installation disc which came with the motherboard or Right-click on the "unknown device" and select "Update driver" button.

For pc users who doesn't know how to check device manager, follow below steps:

Windows XP
- Start > Run > type devmgmt.msc on the box then hit enter key. or you can also
- Start > Right-click My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device Manager

Windows Vista and 7
- Start > type devmgmt.msc on the search box then hit enter key or
- Start > Right-click Computer > System Properties > Device Manager (link at the left pane)

Hope this helps.

My usb hub comes up ''un known device'' can you help

also include the hub make and model number.....
Generally , an unknown device means that the drivers are not there and windows has thrown it's own generic drivers in . Once they have "unknown" status, the computer thinks they are installed and wont try to install them again UNTIL you go into the device manager and uninstal the drivers denoted by a yellow ! or ?.
hit START-SETTINGS-CONTROL PANEL-doouble click system- select the hardware tab at the top- then select device manager.
Scroll down to "unknown devices" click the plus next to it if it isnt already displayed and uninstall the devices with the yellow marks.
This will make the computer look for new drivers when you restart it.

I recently built a computer with a p4 motherboard, with a brand new hard, i tried installing windows 2000 upgrade version, as i do alot of networking, but the only problem im getting with windows 2000 it...

Hi there
It could be a simple matter of bad drivers, go to the motherboard manufacturers website look for your model mobo and download the lan/network driver.
Then go to device manager and uninstall the lan, reboot the pc and reinstall the drivers you just downloaded

post back if any more problems

Good luck
