Audiovox PPC6700 Blank White Screen Plugged In, Black Unplugged

My PPC6700 freaked out on me tonight. I went to use it and the screen was totally black. Would not start up. I reset it, and the screen came up white, with the HTC symbol, but then it wouldn't boot. Screen went totally black again. I docked it to see if that would do anything, and my screen lit up and is totally white, but still won't boot. Another reset didn't change anything. Any ideas?

Update... I left the battery out all night and tried to restart this morning. Screen stayed black until I put it in the docking station. The white HTC startup screen came on, and then it went to the Windows Mobile startup screen, and now it is stuck there.

Look at the website shopjimmy.com. They have trouble shooting videos to determine if it's power supply, led driver, led strip, or t con board.

Sorry to hear that you are having problems with the computer display.

Per your description, I believe the display controller was damaged by the power surge. The laptop may need replacement of the display OR use it with an external display.

Has the sound, but White screen only. No picture.

Video issues are almost always caused by a bad tcon board, you can try cleaning the LVDS cable that goes into the board and the 2 flat cables going to the panel if you would like and see if that helps, do this with the set unplugged, not just shut off.

Hi I just went through the same plight with the Shinco SDP-1750A I won from a local online auction. Sounds fine but no display what so ever. when I went to try and charge the connected battery to a standard 12v auto battery charger I noticed the display would spike with a quick flash as I connect the power. This is of course led me to believe the display wasn't a total goner. Charged it all the way and still zipola.

Seeing that I wasn't real excited about a DVD player that was nothing more than something like an old time radio show I decided to disect the monitor. VERY carefully and gingerly I removed all those tiny knat like screws around the screen frame (put them in a cup or such container so you don't lose what you can barely see). When I removed the dispay I carefully scrutinized all connections nothing looked out of the ordinary or visably at fault.

I then noticed that the main video ribbon interface type connector (wide see thru orange coloured flat cable which connects to bottom center of display was a bit crooked looking. I then unplugged and inspected it then plugged it back in and BINGO the picture was back bright and clear. I then made sure it was held on securely with some electrical tape and now it works a treat.

Hope this helps however this is only one of many things I suppose that can cause lack of display.
