Question about Refrigerators
I'm suddenly hearing a clicking noise and there is a burnt, electrical smell. Both the freezer and refrigerator seem to be cooling properly up to this point.
Sounds like the relay on the compressor. Although this can just blow and is common you may find that the compressor windings have gone short circuit, ( in which case the compressor is u/s and will need replacing). The relay can usually be found under the cap where the cables attach to the compressor. some are push fit ( over 3 pins on the compressor normally) and some just look like a bottle cap with 3 wires coming off (which attach to the 3 pins on the compressor). A meter may show the short but there is very little resistance on the windings in the first place. There are lots of generic relays that will fit. Make sure you note what wires comes of where before getting a replacement, most euronic stores will carry them as do companies like SEME in the uk
