Question about Digital Cameras

1 Answer

Canon 20d, mirror constantly setting under power, sounds like the camera shutter constantly engaging, like a multiple exposure. with or without lens attached, with or without memory card, with or without time/date battery, sometimes even when camera turned off, and sometimes with camera turned off and as soon as battery makes contact with terminals.

Preliminary reviews of various forums indicate that this is a shutter-lock issue, requiring the whole shutter assembly to be replaced.
I just sent mine in for repairs for the same issue, but they haven't diagnosed it yet.
It seems that the going rate is around 200$ for a replacement assembly, though some have claimed it has costed as much as $350.

If you take the lens off, pop the battery in, you'll notice the shutter isn't actuating, only the mirror is flipping up and down.

How to connect the rokinon lens mirror len 800mm to a Nikon d3100 camera

The lens lacks the electronics to communicate with the camera. You must shoot in manual mode (turn the mode dial to M). You'll have to set the aperture and shutter speed without any assistance from the camera's light meter. You can review the photo and use the histogram to adjust the exposure.

Canon 40d will not take pictures

1) CF card in camera? Won't shoot without one

2) Does mirror go up?

3) Canon had a run of bad motors for this model - if mirror does not go up, then it is the mirror motor. If mirror goes up, shutter will not fire, press release again then the mirror goes down, the shutter motor is bad (same model motor). If mirror goes up, shutter fires, both blades travel together/no exposure, probably the shutter is bad.

Canon eos 20d error 99

1.Remove the battery, lens and CF card. Allow the camera to sit without power for 20 minutes and then reinsert a fully charged battery.
2.Turn the camera on and push the shutter button as if you were taking a picture.
3. If you don't get the error message reattach the lens and insert the CF card.
4. Check the below canon eos 20d service manual link:

it will help you to save a lot of money
Hope it helps, Thanks

My camera (digital rebel xsi) is not taking pictures. It sounds as if it taking the picture, but I think the shutter curtain isn't opening. All the pictures I take come out black. Is there a solution for...

Sounds like either the shutter or maybe even the mirror. Are you able to see a picture through the viewfinder? If you can find a very clean area, try taking a long exposure (30 seconds) and and see if you can see the mirror through the lens. If you can see through the viewfinder, and the long exposure is still black, then I fear you are correct.

You should be able to set the exposure to "B" when the exposure is set for manual exposure settings. The shutter should stay open (and the mirror up) for as long as you keep the shutter button pressed.

Hi all, I wonder if you can supply some advice regarding a Sigma17-35mm lens I purchased earlier in the year. Basically if I use the automatic or 'P' setting on my Canon EOS 30D camera the image is over...

Try your EOS in AV (aprature value) mode. You should be able to adjust your aperature value in 1/3 or 1/2 steps dependind how you have your Custom Functions set in your camera's menu. Possibly the lens you purchased is for an EOS 35mm. If you use a 35mm lens on your eos there are some calculations you must use. When using a 35mm lens on the EOS 20D, 30D, 40D and 50D bodies, you must first calculate your focal leingth by 1.6 times. With this, your exposure changes as well.

The only EOS Digital SLR bodies that use a 35mm x 24mm CMOS sensor are the 1D and 5D. My wife uses a Tamron 18-200mm f3.5-5.6 lens on her 20D and loves it.

If this makes no difference, you may have a defective lens.

Error in body

Remove lens, CF card, and battery. Leave in a dry and slightly warm place for 24 hours. Clean lens contacts with a cloth or cue tip and eclipse/alcohol.
If the camera doesn't turn on after this, even without CF card and lens attached, then it needs to go to a Canon service centre. Don't tell them you got it wet, and maybe it will get repaired FOC.

Canon 20D err 99 and shutter going off continuously

its not the battery

its the exposure of the shutter speed of the camera

it might need to be set manually. set it to 2.8 or 4.5 speed

i had the same problem when i bought my sigma 20mm-80mm lens.

the lens wasnt talking to the camera properly, it didnt know what it was aying about exposure speed rate.

put the camera in AV mode and set the speed rate.

the lens might be compatible with your camera even though it is a canon, or it could be defective

return and replace
