Question about Sony DHG-HDD250 200-Hours Video Recorder

1 Answer

Lack of responce of DHG-HDD250 to command when recording scheduled program

When I'm recording some program and simultineously try to watch some other pre-recprded ptrogram I can't fast forward, pause, stop . Nothing works until the program that is recording stops.
I reset the machine, but it did not help.

I have the same problem, plus I no longer receive the TV guide listing. I talked to the Sony Tech Rep and after trying a few things he suggested, ie unplugging, pressing menu and tv guide at same time concluded that I will need to send to Sony for repair.

Restore unit to factory defaults. Use the remote control, go to MENU, SCREEN, enter 9012, then select factory defaults.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Can i set the clock manually ?

Yes, you can. There are different ways of going about it. There's an ongoing thread in the AVS Forum specifically with these Sony DHG units, now that the TV Guide System (ROVI) has been discontinued - which these Sony units relied on the Guide data to set the clock:

This thread is very, very long. The following link starts in Nov 2012 where the discussion picks up about ROVI stopping the TVGOS except via the Internet:

Tv guide listings at wrong time

Check the time zone setting in the STB. If after the power cut the STB settings got scrambled they could have defaulted to the wrong timezone. This would make the program guide times wrong.
