Compaq Armada M300 Loose Display Screen

How do I tighten up the supports on my Compaq Armada M300 display screen? The screen feels loose/slack when going from a closed position to an open position and vice versa.

My lapton screen will no longer stay in an upright position. I would like to find some sort of brace or clip or leg that might solve this problem without having to take apart my monitor.

There is no adjustment on the m300 v300 m700 v700. These hinges will have to be replaced. I do have a set from an v300 am not sure if they are compatible but you can have them if you want.

Red screen

It could of course be the screen driver circuit gone bad, but the brightness and color temperature of a LCD depend on two different circuits. I feel it's unlikely that both went south, and the "red cast" makes me think of a loose PC cable. Try unlatching the cable at both ends and reseating it firmly, tightening both retainer screws.

I got ahold of an old Compaq Armada M300 but it has no operating system. I tried installing Ubuntu and Xubuntu but it says that the bios age 1999 cuts off at 2000. I downloaded the BIOS update from compaq...

Hello,
Borrow a USB floppy drive, copy the update on a floppy disk. You will need a floppy to update the BIOS of the old computer anyway. Reviving a defunct machine with Linux is a worthile endeavor.

Hope it helps.

When starting up computer, compaq monitor has blue screen and says intel inside, won't continue to start up

The intel inside logo is coming from the computer. Try the display on another computer and I suspect you will find it works OK. If so then you likely have a bad computer.

The other possibility is that your computer is switching to a screen resolution or scan rate that isn't supported by your monitor. If this is the case then you'll need to borrow a more modern monitor and adjust the display settings to falll within a supported range for your display and then things will be fine.

Screen goes black after 2 seconds

This could be one of two problems, the light in your monitor has a loose cable, or the light is dying. I have seen cold cathode lights that are about 10-15$ to buy and many instructions on putting them in yourself.

Solution 2, your cable is loose on the back of the monitor. Make sure you have the screws tightened on either side of the vga or dvi cable, both on the back of your monitor and on the back of your computer or laptop.

No Picture or PC Display

Hi,

Sounds like either your Monitor is giving up or your Graphics card.

I would suspect your monitor. However, do double check the physical connection of the monitor to your PC, that usually does come loose - just tighten that and see how it goes.

I hope this helps,

Thanks,

Armada m3000 screen

you can mess around and try to fix it but on those old machines its really not worth it(I own 5 of these).Might I suggest the Armada M700 or the E500--e500 is what im on now and it runs better than a brand new dell or compaq)you might get a new screen on ebay for about 40 bucks. It might be a better idea to buy a new one and save the parts from your old one. You can get a new one for 70 bucks on ebay.

Monitor menu screen appears on screen

Try a hard reset: Unplug from power source, disconnect from PC and wait for 10 minutes. Reconnect everything and see if the issue is resolved.
If not, then you either have a loose contact on the menu button or failing circuitry. I'd recommend calling Sharp tech support in this case..

Have you checked the computer bios?

In case an item was changed in the BIOS, such as the primary display device setting, use the following steps to reset the BIOS back to its default configuration:
  1. Turn on the computer and press the keyboard key that enters the BIOS Setup screen key when the keyboard light comes on. The key to enter the BIOS should be one of the following:
    • HP and Compaq desktop computers that came with Windows Vista, press F10 .
    • For HP Pavilions desktop computers that came with Windows XP or previous versions of Windows, press F1 .
    • Compaq Presario desktop computers built after 2002, press F1 .
    • Compaq Presario desktop computers built prior to 2002, press F10 .
  2. Wait 5 seconds.
  3. Press the F5 key to restore the default settings of the BIOS.
  4. Press Enter to accept the change and wait five seconds.
  5. Press the F10 and then the Enter key to save the changes and exit from the BIOS.
  6. The monitor should now display the first screens received from the computer (the logo screens). If not, find and download the latest BIOS update if one is available for your computer.
  7. If a BIOS update was not available or the monitor is still blank, continue to the next step

Reseating loose internal components

If the PC case was recently serviced or moved, a card, cable, memory module, or processor may have become loose. When this happens, the PC might make a beeping sound when turned on. Use the following steps to check for loose components: WARNING: The edges of metal panels can cut skin. Be careful not to slide skin along any interior metal edge of the computer. CAUTION: This product contains components that can be damaged by electrostatic discharge (ESD). To reduce the chance of ESD damage, work over a non-carpeted floor, use a static dissipative work surface (like a conductive foam pad), and wear an ESD wrist strap connected to a grounded surface.
  1. Unplug all cables except for the power. Write down each cable location if you do not already know where it connects.
  2. With the power cable removed press the Power button on the front of the PC for 5 seconds.
  3. Remove the screw(s) that retain the panel or cover from the rear of the PC. c00371492.jpg
  4. Slide the side panel off from the rear of the PC. c00371493.gif
  5. Gently press down on the outside edges of cards and memory modules that are inserted into the motherboard to better seat them. Do not press too hard.
  6. Gently press down on the connectors of the flat ribbon cables to seat them.
  7. Replace the side panel and screw(s), reconnect the PC cables, and turn on the PC on.
  8. If the monitor still displays a black screen, the video hardware may be faulty and needs to be replaced or serviced. If the monitor displays the first startup screen but does not display Windows, continue to the next step.

Try this and if it doesnt work. please post again.
