If the water fill tube in back of ice maker is frozen also it is very possible that the water control valve is defective for the ice maker side. For example to turn off a faucet and it it off but there is that constant drip of a bad seal in valve that needs to be replaced. I am not saying this is the solution but this is the most likely reason. I will need you to answer before you rate. Some customers come here because they need answers yet are not able to answer back. Were you wrote Quote, (ice lies in tray in big lumps) I noticed that you placed no model number. Then ae you sure the model number above your post is RS2630SH? Thanks, Sea Breeze

I have a side by side Maytag mod #msd2456geq the ice tray is leaking into the ice cube bin causing one big lump.

Hi welcome to fix-ya, I would start by changing both watervalves. Not to hard just the cost. The valve numbers are 61005626 and 12001892, The cost at sears is 50.90 and 48.55. I hope this helps.

The water runs into the ice cube tray, splashing over at the end , freezing the cubes below in the bin in a big lump. The tray seems to not want to reset straight after it dumps the cubes.

Locate the fill tube by the ice maker and toke a razor knife and cut an 1/8 in. biece off angling down toward the tray the s will fix your problem

The icemaker produces small cubes if the water fed into it is not enough and lumped together if too much water is supplied. In order to obtain the desired size of ice cubes, the amount of water supplied to the ice maker needs to be adjusted. Adjust the valve supplying water to the icemaker or the unit in general in such a way that right amount of water fills the ice tray.

Ice frozen together

you can adjust the amount of water by popping the front white cover off the icemaker and adjusting a screw . depending on the model the screw will be a flat head on the side of the icemaker or a phillips screw on the front of the icemaker.

My ice freezes together!

Do you mean the ice cubes are too large to be individual cubes and come out as a lump? The water is filled by a timed fill so if the fill solenoid stays open a little and drips water into the cube tray it will have more water than normal. I guess I'm not sure if you mean the ice cubes are stuck together in the tray or are they sticking together in the holding bin area?
