Depends on how often it runs. Ice formation due to lack of air flow can certainly cause damage and cause a leak.

Goodman/Amana air handler freezing up and not cooling home. What could be causing it?

There are two things that cause freeze up's...

Low air flow...

Low freon...

First check the filters, the blower , and the air vents to make sure that the air handler unit can move enough air...not enough air across the coil, the coil gets too cold, ice forms....

The low freon problem will require professional assistance...
For the system to be low there needs to be a leak...the leak must be found and repaired or the fix will only be temporary...
To do this the system refrigerant must be recovered, the leak fixed and then the system vacuumed and recharged...

One other thing....outdoor air temperatures under say 65 F can also cause freezing.... but I am assuming that you are above that if you are running your A/C system.

My ac unit keeps freezing up on the pipes and keeps leaking water everywhere. what could it be the problem.

If you own indoor pets you will want to change the return air filters monthly like religously. You may also need to have the A-Coil other wise none as the evaporator coil cleaned manually. It is located inside the air handling unit inside the house somewhere. It could be restricting the air flow across the coil with daner and dust and/or deris. Sometimes it can be difficult to clean but with care and lots of elbow grease it can usually be done. Be careful not to bend the fins! Once this is completed and the unit still freezes up! Then you can be sure it is low on refrigerant 90% of the time! Cleaning the A-Coils is something you should do or have done anually!

Had a gas line leak. I had it fixed. Also exhaust problem, can be fixed in 6 months. Great car, 253,000 miles on it. Never had a tuneup in 5 yrs, runs like a top.

at least change your air filter , which is important , spark plugs check , oil and filter is normal , check your belts , timing belt too need to check too .Do not want that break down and then have to repair it , it will cost more

Coil freezes over.i un plugged the freeze control because the ac kept shutting down befor it cooled down.

That should only be a temporary fix...if you let it like that the coil could freeze completely over causing major water damage...
The most likely causes are a plugged air filter or an under charged condition...the under charge is a sympton of a refrigerant leak...just adding refrigerant sill only solve the problem for a short time...

Haier ac unit keeps freezing in the front where the filter i located how do i prevent this

Freezing is a bad sign... but dont give up yet...
these are the signs that will cause freeze up...
dirty filter
t'sat not shuting off
cooling a room too big for the unit
settings at max but room is still hot
and the worst case... a/c leaking freon..
the leaking part is bad cause if you get someone to put it back in next year (or sooner) you have to call em back to recharge it again...
if everything checks out then it is the leaking freon... throw away...
what you pay $100 or so???
hope this was helpful

After changing coil on a/c unit, it still has a leak!

a leak, other then in the a-c itself, should have been found when a vacuum was pulled on the system before it was recharged, also the dryer should have been replaced at this time, since the system was open.
