Question about Notation Technologies Play Music

Notation Technologies Play Music 1.0 No sound when playing back song.

I installed Play Music 1.0 yesterday (3/16/08). Everything seemed to work well. Today (3/17/08) I composed a simple score, then tried to play it back. No sound came out of the speakers, though other PC functions produce sounds. Yesterday I could hear the notes when I played back a composition. Help. Steve Storz

i put a music cd in my computer and it does not sound

  • marion196 Apr 29, 2009

I've been using Play Music for almost 4 years now, and never had this problem before. I score out my music, hit the "playback" feature to see how it sounds, and get NO SOUND. I sent the score to my desktop through the Midi Export feature. When I clicked onto it, Windows Media played it out for there was sound through this outlet, but no sound on the Play Music program. I should be able to hear every note as I'm putting it down in the score. NOTHING! I don't want to have to score everything out, send it to my desktop, and listen to it through Windows Media...I want to hear it as I'm looking at the score. HELP!

When i play back my songs in mixcraft 4 it makes a pop and studdering noise

try to play song on different music players like windows media player and if the studdering noise that you mention also occurs it means the problem is in your hardwares but if not and the noise only happens in mixcraft 4 then just re-install the software this should be able to fix the problem and if the noise is still there then you should go back to the store where you bought it and let them test it so that if the problem is in the cd you should be able to get a replacement

Pinnacle 11 was working fine, now I cant add music no matter what I do, play the song, it just wont add it to the sound track

How did you add your music to the sound track? Where your audio or music coming from? If ever try to convert your audio to MP3 or WMV file format.

Sound distortion

K that fella didn't help at all cuz im still running into this problem even at Version 16, i found chopping up some of the loops ive stretched out helps, taking out normalization seems to help, its the point when the memory maxs out im thinking from the looks of it. Also try reconverting your used recordings and mp3's as well, i found that helped as well.

When I burn i cd with iTunes some songs won't play and others will. why?

What format are the songs in, ie- mp3 / wma etc. make sure the device you are trying to play your cd on recognises these formats. if unsure compare the format of the songs, to the songs that do and don't work, the ones that won't play are probably in a format not recognised by your player, this is common in older or cheaper players.

ITunes dumping music

I would un install itunes completely and just re download it from the apple website and the latest version should fix the issue.

Might be that your itunes library is corrupted so before you install the newest one if you go to music and open the itunes folder and delete the library files that or go to macintosh hd --> users --> your username --> music --> itunes --> delete all library files

if you need more help post back and I will help further.

Midi vs. Sound

Think of MIDI like the old time player pianos where you put a roll into it and the punches on the paper roll told the piano what notes to play. MIDI is a way for computers and musical instruments to communicate what is being played. When you plug your keyboard into your computer and enable it in Cakewalk, then Cakewalk records what notes you are playing on your keyboard (makes a piano roll file). Then when you tell Cakewalk to play this file back it communicates to your keyboard and says play these notes just like a person was sitting there playing these notes. The distinction here is you are recording and playing back your performance (which keys you pressed, how hard you struck the keys, how long you held the keys for sustain, etc...). No sound is actually being recorded, just the PERFORMANCE. When you play it back, the keyboard regenerates the sounds on the fly just as if you were actually sitting there performing the music again. Same thing applies to other MIDI enabled instruments (drums, guitar, saxaphone, etc...). This opens up all kinds of possibilities, you can redirect the recorded MIDI file to a completely different sound or instrument. Example... you record MIDI of you playing piano song, then you have Cakewalk play this MIDI back to your keyboard but you change the sound on your keyboard to guitar, it will play the same song, but now you will hear guitar instead of piano. Get it?
