I have a 2001 Dodge Caravan, With my van off, I went to reset the trip button and I turned it to the right and held it there for a while. all of a sudden the speeddometer goes goes to 120 all the different displays lights, numbers, symbols light up in the trip area. It also turns my high beam lights on, cruise light on... a whole bunch of stuff. Did I somehow do a system check, reset something... I have no idea what I had done. I check my manual and naturally it tells you nothing about any of this. Please advise.

With key in the off position, hold the reset on the trip portion of speedometer
until the light comes on. Allow the vehicle to reset everything, and then test it by turning the key on. Sometimes it takes a few tries to get it right but this should fix your problem.
Hold down the black plastic TRIP METER RESET switch for 10 sec and ti will go into diagnostic mode. I did this and its cool. Do it with the van turned off!
This has happened on our van multiple times. Through some internet searches I have found a solution that works.
Go to your van and, with the ignition off, press and hold the trip reset button. You will see 'Sof' and perhaps some diagnostic test numbers will show up on odometer; the unit will perform a self-test, and the system will do a reset and should it should operate normally.
