LCD not functioning - Digital Cameras

Posted by on

  • shudder Mar 23, 2008

The camera is a Canon A540. It had been working fine. One day when I tried to use it the LCD display was not functioning. Pressing display did not fix it. If I put the mode switch in the download position the LCD functions normally and I can see the images normally. All of the function data displays on the LCD but no image.

Hello shudder ,

Try leaving the battery out for 10 minutes. Try also removing the external memory. Turn on and off the camera with and without the external memory.

Lcd ribbon cable may be out of place which is make and model?

Check first that the camera shutter is opening and the cap in front of the objective had been removed.

Also remove camera battery and put them back in place, so that in this way you reset your camera

If the above does not work the lcd cable may be out of place, or the display to be changed

    regards

Brand new D3000 camera, but LCD Monitor stopped functioning -only get shooting info and other menu functions. Tried reset button but no good

Hello

For a Nikon D3000 all you will see in "camera" mode are shooting information and menu functions. The D3000 does not have a Live View feature where you can view the "live" image via the LCD, only through the viewfinder.

In review mode, you will be able to preview the images you have already taken, however.

There is two ways to view your "taking picture" with the LCD and with the viewfinder, you can shut the LCD off to save battery power and use the viewfinder and that is what I think has happened. a touch of the DISP button and it will switch from the LCD to the viewfinder. here is a diagram

With you saying the LCD is working for functions but not for taking pictures this is what I suspect is the problem.

How do you turn the flash on? (with the vivitar vivicam 8018)

Your camera has a built in flash function which enables you to take photos when the light condition is not good.

1. Press the Up button. (for reference of buttons, please see the below figure mentioned)
2. Press the Up button once until you see the icon appear on the LCD screen. This indicates that the flash is forced on.
3. Press the Up button again to change to the auto flash function.
4. The icon will appear at the top of the LCD indicating that the auto flash is turned on and ready to use.
5. Press the Up button again to change from the auto flash to the red eye function.
6. The icon will appear on the LCD indicating that the red eye reduction function has been activated.
7. To turn off the flash function, press the Up button again until the icon is displayed on the LCD.

Note: A “Low Power” message will appear on the LCD screen, if you select the flash function when the battery power is insufficient. To continue using the camera with the flash, please change new batteries

Cracked LCD on Canon PowerShot A510. A few weeks back, I noticed that my LCD view screen was cracked on my camera. The camera still functions since I use the other view finder anyway. However, I obviously...

Your best option is buy a junk one off ebay and replace LCD. LCD replacement is very straight forward, just remove the screws, pry the case apart and the rest will be easy. Use the one you buy off ebay and practice getting it apart.

Canon Powershot SD1000: LCD screen display

Hopefully you resolved this already. If not, push the "DISP." button left of the MENU button. Pushing it gives you three options: black (for discreet shooting so your LCD doesn't give garner dirty looks from fellow concert goers), liveview, and liveview with info overlayed (shooting mode, ISO, etc.). Good luck!

My Sony DSC H-2 camera LCD display

Does the finder LCD work ? Push the button directly to the right of the eyepiece to toggle between the large panel LCD and the finder and PLAY a recorded pic. If it will display a recorded pic but not display a live pic, the shutter blades are stuck together. It'll have to go to repair - about a $105 repair.

Play on LCD

SOME MENU FUNCTIONS WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO ADJUST THEM BECAUSE OF ANOTHER SETTING THAT HAS A HOLD ON THAT FUNCTION. I SUGGEST YOU FIRST CHANGE THE MODE AND THEN SEE IF YOU CAN SET THAT FUNCTION. IF YOU CANT THEN DO A PARAMETER RESET THEN TRY.
