Amana Dryer I have a Amana dryer s/n either LK15980 2 or PLE8217W2, those are the only nombers I saw on it, it did say Heavy Duty Dryer, any who... It has a three prong hook up, and my wall outlet is a 4 prong. The terminal block is not color coded, it just has a 3 metal pieces that are gold / silver / gold. Then there is a little green wire screwed down off to the side. The old 3 wire plug that I took off is not color coded either. I bought a 4 prong cord, and I just need to know what color goes were and what about that little green wire. PLEASE HELP!

The red wire goes to the right hand side and the black goes the the left. The white wire goes connected to the middle. The green wire is the tricky part. There are two gree wires in this washer apart from the one on the cord. Disconnect the green wire closest to the other three wires and join it with the green wire on the four prong cord and screw it back in. That's all.

There should be instructions on the cord that you purchased. if not here it is, on your dryer, the 3 prongs are L1-N-L2.. and the green is a ground L1 line 1, L2 line 2, and N nuetral. L1 and L2 dont make a diff. as long as the whie(nuetral) is in middle terminal and the green screws to hte ground screw

Hello, I have Amana LG4309W heavy duty gas dryer.

sounds like one of the supply fuses at the house panel, these 240 volt dryers are wired so the timer is on one phase(120)volt and the motor is on the opposite phase(120)volt and the heating element is on both phases for a combined 240 volts,if you lose one phase you either wont get motor operation or timer operation, and for sure no heat and you have the timer so you have 120volts

My Amana Heavy Duty Dryer will not heat up. It tumbles but it doesnt warm up. WE have cleaned out the the machine and the vent to the outside.

You didn't state if it is a gas or electric dryer. If gas the igniter element is bad, if electric the heating coils need replaced. Goodluck Google burdfrenzy

I have the heavy duty 4 cycle Amana dryer. When I turn it on it is very loud and stops after about 20 minutes. It smells really hot so maybe it's overheating? But why?

sounds like motor bearings are failing. causes motor to overheat and cut out on motor protector. I'm afraid a new motor is in order.

I have a gas Amana Heavy duty dryer LG5309w it starts and after 5 minutes it shuts off...any suggestions?

If the dryer has a sensor dry function, look inside the drum and locate the moisture detector. It'll probably look like two metals bare. Clean it real good with rubbing alcohol. If that doesn't fix your problem you'll need to work on the dryer.

Amana dryer

If you have voltage across the heating element and it does not heat, replace the element. If you have no voltage, trace it back to the thermostat and control board.
