Something is holding the top cover on the printer open enough so it is not pressing the switch to tell it it is closed, OR there may be a back door on the printer that is not fully closed. Many printers have an access door in the back for clearing paper jams. If the back door is not fully seated and latched it will cause an error.

Printer blinking red and showing letter E

Error description:

The Attention (red) light is blinking. There are six possible causes that will display the Attention light pattern:

-Paper out
-Door open
-Print cartridge missing
-Paper jam
-Paper sensor jammed
-Duplexer error

Solution :
After the cause of the problem has been addressed, pressing GO will cause the printer to attempt to recover from the cause of the error. If the printer is unsuccessful, it will continue to display the Attention message until the cause is remedied.

Pressing JOB CANCEL will cancel the print job and the printer will return to the Ready state (Ready light on) unless there is a paper jam still in the printer or the print cartridge is not in the printer.

I can not get my Lexmark printer to print out an email I rec'dI have the Lexmark printer X2650 please help me. i unpluged it and truned it off and back on again nothing happens.

To be sure that the issue was caused by the enabled Image Sharpening option, do the following:
Go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer > Application, and look for entries that start with the Error sign, as in the table below:
Windows XP pattlnk_5142009_1243-err.jpg Windows Vista pattlnk_5142009_1244-err_v.jpg
After opening it, look for entries that report faulting application, such as spoolsv.exe, and the faulting module is lx??ibuf.dll. See image.
If using Windows Vista 64-bit, one might also see this error message (click on the link to view image).
Solution

Windows XP Click Start, then select Printers and Faxes. Right-click the Lexmark printer, and from the drop down menu select Printing Preferences.
Go to Image Enhancement and deselect the Image Sharpening option. See image.
Windows Vista Click Start (Ribbon), then select Control Panel. Click on Hardware and Sound and from the list select Printers. Right-click the Lexmark printer, and from the drop down menu select Printing Preferences.
Go to Image Enhancement and deselect the Image Sharpening option.

    3. Is there a check mark next to Pause Printing?

  • -Application-specific issues relating to the application's Printer Setup.

Topic 12: Last Resort
If you have tried all of the above suggestions to no avail, try the following:

Check print cartridge blinking cartridges refilled today and installed laptop not recognising printer as result

    • If the message on the computer does not identify a particular cartridge (it says only Print cartridge error ), follow the steps below to determine which cartridge is causing the problem.
      1. Open the cartridge access door.
      2. Remove either cartridge (not both).
      3. Close the cartridge access door.
        • If the computer message is Print Cartridge Error , then the print cartridge that is still in the printer is the problem cartridge.
        • If the computer message is NOT Print Cartridge Error (instead, it says that the cartridge you have removed is ...Either missing, not detected, or incorrectly installed), then the cartridge you have removed is the problem cartridge.

  • If the problem still occurs, the electrical contact between the cartridges and the printer might be bad. Removing and reseating the cartridges might help. Also, you can clean the electric contacts on the cartridges with a dry cloth.
Hope that will help solve your problem!

    Stopped printing and isn't recognized

In Windows XP print jobs can get caught in the print spooler, this will cause pending print jobs not to print. It may also hinder the user from uninstalling the printer driver. Usually you can delete the print job by opening the print spooler in the System Tray but this may not work with this problem. NOTE: This fix below also solves the problem of "The Printer Queue Is Full" error message.
One solution is to restart the spooler in Windows XP to clear it. Follow the instructions below to do this:
    Click Start, then Control Panel.
    1. For Category View:

      • Click Performance and Maintenance.

      • Click Administrative tools.

      • Double-click Services.

    2. For Classic view:

      • Double-click Administrative Tools.

      • Double-click Services.

    3. In either, locate the print spooler on the list-->right-click-->choose Restart.

    4. A progress message will appear and the spooler should be clear.
You should now be able to print or remove the printer driver as you choose.
