Question about Washing Machines

1 Answer

Re: Lavamat 72630, 6 yrs old Very loud noise from drum movement, has increased over last ten washes. When machine is stopped, on rotating drum we note it is catching on something. Nothing rattling, don't think it is a loose object. Thanks in advance for any guidance. Contemplating getting a new one rather than pay call out charges and possible repair costs. John

Hiya admin47..... to be a litle more certain diagnosing your problem, please can you do the following.

1. with the washer empty.. ie the drum... please rotate the drum by hand at any speed you can get... without moving the drum sideways/backwards. Listen for any peculiar noises.

2. Then move the drum backwards at the bottom of the door ( dont force).. then let the drum housing go.. swinging by its own movement, again listen for any strange noises.

3. Do the same pushing the drum from the inside to the outer casing..again dont force.. let go listening again...

Please post me the results

Regards Faggly

My 12 year old AEG OKO LAVAMAT is making a grinding sound when it fills. It's fine at all other times. I've tried cleaning out the filter, and running it empty.

This is usually caused by the recycling pump running empty whilst the washing is still soaking up the initial fill water. as the water begins to soak the clothes it then starts to pass through the drum into the pump and the whole thing quietens down. running empty will not work. to test this theory try opening the drawer very slightly and filling it manually with a hose before starting the machine, (ONLY TO THE NORMAL LEVEL) and see if the noise is still as bad.

Hi i have a speedqueen awm373w-3062 have noise on

Hello.

Loud noises coming from a Washing Machines are most often caused by loose objects inside the unit or by a broken dryer belt. The Washing Machines belt allows the dryer's motor to run smoothly. Continuous wear and dry conditions may cause the belt to dry out, eventually Washing Machines cracking and then snapping. This will cause a loud noise within the unit. Repair and fix the dryer belt of a Washing Machines to get rid of loud noises.

Instructions And Things You'll Needed to solve the problem.

Screwdriver ,Replacement Washing Machines belt

1 Stop the Washing Machines and look inside the dryer's drum for any loose objects such as coins, pens or anything else that may have been in a pocket of clothing. Remove the object and restart the dyer to determine if the noise has stopped.
2 Unplug the Washing Machines from the wall outlet to disconnect all power to the unit.

3 Remove the lint trap from the lint compartment on the top of the dryer.

4 Remove the screws that hold the top panel in place. Pull the panel off to access the
dryer belt.
5 Tilt the dryer forward and lift the dryer drum to remove the belt. Check the Washing Machines belt. A belt that is worn, cracked, split or broken will cause loud noises.

6 Slide the old belt off of the drum and pull it out to remove it. Take note on how it is positioned over the drum.
7 Install the new belt. Lean the front panel away from the Washing Machines and slip the new belt over the drum. Locate the position of the old belt and slip the new belt following the old belt's position ensuring the grooved side of the belt faces down. Push the idler pulley towards the motor to allow you to slip and loop the belt around the motor pulley.
8 Place the top panel on the Washing Machines and screw it in place.
9 Open the Washing Machines door and use your hand to rotate the drum counterclockwise a few turns to ensure the belt is secured.
10 Plug the Washing Machines into the wall unit and begin use .

Sounds like the spider arm(s) are broken in your machine. It is the part that supports the wash drum in the machine. It's a major repair job and can be expensive to fix. Get a few estimates before deciding whether it is worth fixing or replacing the washer.
