It is very hard to start our dryer (maytag mde6657byw ).After setting the time with control dial, we pull the control cap out, which should start the dryer but it doesnt, after that we try to adjust the control cap upwards until it engages and dryer starts. My dryer is the same, and will not start unless you do exactly as you said, "pull out and apply pressure upwards on the knob". I thought maybe it had something to do with the clothes wetness sensor. Now, I am not so sure!

Your saying that pulling the timer knob out, which normally starts dryer, does nothing. however if you pull out and apply pressure upwards on knob and touch nothing else, the dryer will start??? if the thats the case sounds like a short in the timer mechanism , youll need to replace the timer assy

My Maytag dryer model number MDE5500AYW has lights on, but won't switch settings. It is stuck in time dry at 18 minutes. Yesterday it was on sensor dry 47 minutes. Do I need a new control board inside...

OK, your control board and LED are integrated, so you will need to just replace the control board. I would try a hard reset before replacing the board. Pull the plug or, shut down the appropriate breaker switch for 5 minutes. Re apply power after the 5 minutes are up. if you continue to experience this fault, replace the control board asap.

I have to pull the knob on my dryer several times before it starts. It seems like its not catching?? Model # MDE6657BYW

You have an intermittent contact inside the timer. The fix would be to replace the timer (33002803). Be sure to unplug the dryer prior to service.

MMV5000BAW maytag over-the-range microwave

Found this in the GE section instead of Maytag, but we're happy to answer it anyway.

The first thing to try is a "hard reset". Unplug it from the power line for a few minutes, plug it back in, set the clock, then try again.

Let us know if the hard reset doen't fix it.

If not, you may have a shorted keypad or bad control panel, either of which we can repair economically.

Please write back with more details if you need further help.
