Question about Maytag Atlantis MAV6451 Top Load Washer
It is very hard to start our dryer (maytag mde6657byw ).After setting the time with control dial, we pull the control cap out, which should start the dryer but it doesnt, after that we try to adjust the control cap upwards until it engages and dryer starts. Not sure what part should I order to fix this.
My dryer is the same, and will not start unless you do exactly as you said, "pull out and apply pressure upwards on the knob". I thought maybe it had something to do with the clothes wetness sensor. Now, I am not so sure!

Your saying that pulling the timer knob out, which normally starts dryer, does nothing. however if you pull out and apply pressure upwards on knob and touch nothing else, the dryer will start??? if the thats the case sounds like a short in the timer mechanism , youll need to replace the timer assy
