Question about Acer Aspire 3680 Laptop

1 Answer

I'm having many troubles with my Acer laptop

First problem: My laptop gives off this whiny screeching noise, usually when I leave it on top of something or touch it in a certain spot, but it keeps changing that spot every time find that spot. The noise seems to be coming from the speakers. I recently asked a a computer expert, and he said it has to do something with the grounding wires or something and said I should take it to get it repaired. I wanted to ask if this is correct, if not then what should I do?

Second problem: I cannot get my bluetooth Headset to work at all on my laptop, I set the bluetooth for search, and went on my laptop to see if it detected or anything. I looked online for a solution, and they keep telling me to look in the bluetooth device thing, but I looked everywhere on the control panel, and failed in vain to find it. The bluetooth works fine on everything else, including my PS3. It's a Plantronics something something headset.

Third problem: After failing to get my bluetooth headset to work, I turned towards the built-in-mic on my laptop, but I still couldn't figure out how to get it to work, I checked to see if it's muted and set on default, but it still won't record my voice. Have any ideas?

Fourth problem: My laptop won't detect most of the USB devices I plug into it, including: Wireless Mouse, Flash drive, and my MP3 player, I downloaded this scanner thing to see if my USB drivers were up-to-date, and it said every single port wasn't. The devices 'have' worked before, so I see no reason for them to stop working now.

I am really frustrated with my Acer laptop, I would appreciate any help given, thanks in advance.

Problem 1: Yea I'll fix that tomorrow at Best Buy or Target.

Problem 2: Well I'm just gonna forget about the bluetooth and just get a USB headset/mic >.>

Problem 3: Yea, I've tried everything, this thing would be really helpful...

Problem 4: Well it only seems to not work with most USB devices...

    I have Windows Vista

Problem 1. That's definately one for the shop/manufacturer to repair I'm afraid.

Problem 2. If you're using XP, service pack 2 includes it's own bluetooth support, but it's dismal. try this site to disable their drivers and then install your own.
If you're using Vista, same thing goes. Try this site:

Problem 3. How are you trying to record? Have you run the microphone configuration applet from control panel?

Problem 4. It's possible that you've created conflicts while fiddling with bluetooth ports. Did this problem arise around the same time as the bluetooth issues? Re-installing bluetooth drivers may solve this but if not I can help.

I'll try to help you further once you provide me with the extra info. Let me know which OS you're running too. In the meantime I hope this has been of some help.

This morning my sony vaio nw20 serirs started making a kind of screeching noise from the fan area, it has not been dropped or damaged in anyway and stated with no warning

Laptop fans and heat-sinks collect dust in no time.
You need to maintain this clean, otherwise your laptop will over-heat.

Try to run compressed air in the fan and other laptop vents to clean any dust.

If the fan still does the noise, this mean that it will fail in the near future.
If the fan stop turning completely you have to turn off your laptop and leave it off until you replace the fan.
Don't use your laptop with no fan, if you do the processor will be permanently damaged.

My acer laptop makes a loud screaching noise; the error page come up when i turn on the computer; it takes forever getting to the windows page; it never makes it to the desktop

That screeching noise comes from the hard drive of tour computer. It needs to be replaced. However, if you have files, I doubt if you can still back them up.

When use mic, loud screeching noise at the receiving end

Go to control panel, sounds(may be a different name depending on your windows version) click recordings, select your microphone and adjust the volume to a lower setting. That should fix it.

My name is vinod. Prince829 you said screeching noise when booting up. so try doing the bios default. i.e. shutdown your computer. turnit on immediately keep tapping f2 it would go into bios screen. or if not try tapping delete. For some computer it goes into bios using delete.

So once your into bios screen. press f9 once. it would two options yes or no. say yes. now press f10 save and exit. it restarts the computer. so check if you hear the screeching noise or not. if yes it can a hardware issue. contact acer for support.

Acer 5100 noise from speakers and cpu runs 100%

Even though you bought the laptop used, you can try going to and leave a message they may be able to give you more advice.
I am thinking it could be the DVD drive or maybe even a memory issue, not really sure, maybe you need to add more memory, I think Acer will be able to help.
Good Luck.

Dell inspiron1525 laptop trouble

This is going to be a problem either with the sound card malfunctioning after the machine warms up, or feed back from the speakers due to a wiring issue. Either way, this is a hardware problem, and you shouldn't have this or any problem with the machine, especially with it only being 10 days old. Take it back for an exchange. Demand an exchange and don't let them give you the run around. When you get the new machine, you will see that you shouldn't have any problems with it for years to come. Also, don't let this bother you about Dell machines, they're one of the best machines on the market. Just like everything else, there are a few lemons.
