Question about Canon PIXMA iP4000 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Canon pixma 4000

Printer won't print. It's like it's not getting a connection.
We've had this problem before but usually turn it off and on and that seems to do the trick. No this time.

In control panel > printers make certain there's only -1- copy of the printer installed. Remove all except the default, then reboot. If that doesn't help, remove them all, unplug the usb cable, reboot and plug the usb back in.

The printer's lying to me

The printer requires both cartridges to have ink before the printer will initialize and operational. Even if you are only printing black and white both cartridge have to contain ink or the printer will error out. This is standard on all ink jet printers from every manufacturer. You will have to get ink before you can print.

I've changed the ink cartidges but the black and color ink lights remain on and it won't print. I think the E2 error message is on.

This hapens when refilled cartridges are installed in the printer. To rectify the problem, look for the 'Resume button' normally black with a red circle around an arrow head pointing towards you. With the printer powered on, press and hold this button down for about 10 seconds. The error code will usually clear and the printer will print but the orange lights will still flash.

It sounds like you have an electronic problem, it is most likely a faulty scanner or logic board. although a faulty print head can take out a logic.check that there is no burning smell or damage evident on the underside of the print head before trying a logic.
the machine will require disassembly and parts replacement.

Hi.
If you had done utility check and they are fine, had you try printing on a stand alone not using a computer. if you can print on a stand alone, there is no problem on the hardware side of the printer because u were able to print on a stand alone. you can focus now on the software side by uninstalling and re installing the driver of the printer and that should work.

My Canon pixma ip 4000 won´t print. The light at the turn on button blinks five times orange and then comes one green blink. I have tried to clean the print head but that didn´t change anything....

this indicates a the print head is not installed correctly or is faulty.

if the green and orange is alternating 5 times then it is caused by the sheet feeder.
