Monitor trouble Monitor will not turn on. Screen is completely black. Help!

Are you sure that the display is not set for external monitor only? Also take bright flashlight and shine on the display. If you can see the images then the problem is with the back light and usually caused by a bad inverter. Some times you can get the back light or inverter bu most times it is easier and cheaper to replace the entire display.

I think maybe its not the monitor thats causing the problem.
Check if your motherboard,processor and HDD are working fine.

The monitor has 2 lamps inside it. If one side is black, the lamp from that side could be burned and needs to change. This type of repair costs around 50 Euro/ 80 USD.

The refresh rate differs so thats why it turns black .

Sounds like bad video card drivers..Try updating the drivers from the manufacturer's website. Give us the details of your video card/ PC.

Or it could be monitor related. Open the monitor and check the power supply. Make sure there are no bad capacitors inside. If you find any replace them with new ones with same number or bigger capacity,

I see many monitor with that trouble.
When you turn on comp., you can have a picture on monitor about 10-30 min. and that go in black screen, or If you change resolution again go in black screen.
You must repair monitor or bay another.

It could be a bad backlight bulb.
