I am trying to charge my Casio Exilim EX-5600 Digital Camera. When it first starts to charge the LED stays red, and then maybe 30 seconds later the LED light starts to flash red and will not charge. Please advise what I can do to recitify this problem.

Me too! My camera suddenly won't charge- it just flashes red!! I really needed it tonight, too!! :( Hope somebody has an answer for this some time soon.

I've unplugged/replugged (of course) every part of it. I blew on the contacts. I don't know what else to try. It blinks- so it recognizes the camera is attached, but there's an issue. If I push the Photo button the camera LCD comes on & displays the menu. But the lens won't open. (battery fully dead). This is less than 1 yr old.

Same thing happened to me and I've found 2 solutions:

1. Casio has recognized that this is a problem with the battery. If you call the support line and tell them the problem, they will send you a new battery for free. All you need is the serial code on the bottom of your battery.

2. This sounds crazy but it worked for me. Take a 9v battery and touch the connectors to the connectors of your np 20 casio battery. make sure to touch + to + and - to -. hold it there for 30 -60 seconds. put the np 20 back in the camera and put the camera on the dock. this will give it just enough charge that the charger will recognize the battery and start charging your camera to full.

Here is how you fix the problem (without using a 9V battery!).

The battery doesn't charge because it's been fully discharged.

What you do is you put the camera into the cradle. Now you see that the Red LED comes on solid for a while. It's charging for a few seconds. Then it starts blinking. When it does that - TAKE THE CAMERA OUT of the cradle.

Now put the camera back and repeat. Do this six or eight times. Each time what's happening is that the battery is getting a tiny bit of charge. After 8 times the LED will come on red and stay solid red.

Bingo, no problem!

The 9v battery worked GREAT! Who would have ever thought? $300 for a camera, and .99 cents to make it work!

18v 12 cordless trimmer/edger. Why won't it start?

the trimmers switch may be faulty.

CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK
Battery packs for this tool are shipped in a low charge condition
to prevent possible problems. Therefore, you should
charge them until the green LED on the front of the charger
comes on.
NOTE: Batteries will not reach full charge the first time they
are charged. Allow several cycles (operation followed by
recharging) for them to become fully charged.
CHARGING A COOL BATTERY PACK
See Figure 3.
If battery pack is within normal temperature range, the red
LED on charger will come on.
NOTE: If the charger does not charge the battery pack
under normal circumstances, return both the battery pack and
charger to your nearest Ryobi Authorized Service Center for
electrical check.
n Charge the battery pack only with the charger provided.
n Make sure the power supply is normal household
voltage, 120 volts, 60 Hz, AC only.
n Connect the charger to the power supply.
n Place the battery pack in the charger aligning raised rib
on the battery pack with the groove in the charger.
n Press down on the battery pack to be sure contacts on
the battery pack engage properly with contacts in the
charger.
n Normally the red LED on charger will come on. This
indicates the charger is in fast charging mode.
n Red LED should remain on for approximately 1 hour
then the green LED will come on. Green LED on
indicates battery pack is fully charged and charger is
in maintenance charge mode.
NOTE: The green LED will remain on until the
battery pack is removed from the charger or charger is
disconnected from the power supply.
n If both yellow and green LEDs come on, this indicates
a deeply discharged or defective battery pack.
Allow the battery pack to remain in the charger for 15
to 30 minutes. When the battery pack reaches normal
voltage range, the red LED should come on. If the
red LED does not come on after 30 minutes, this may
indicate a defective battery pack and should be
replaced.
n After normal usage, a minimum of 1 hour of charging time
is required to fully recharge battery pack.
n The battery pack will become slightly warm to the
touch while charging. This is normal and does not
indicate a problem.
n Do not place the charger and battery pack in an area of
extreme heat or cold. They will work best at normal room
temperature.
NOTE: The charger and battery pack should be placed
in a location where the temperature is more than 50°F
but less than 100°F.
n When batteries become fully charged, unplug the
charger from power supply and remove the battery
pack.

Ryobi charger model # 140295003 has a red and yellow light. When charging red light is on what does the yellow light mean? Also how long should the battery be left in the charger?

Completely wrong. Quoting from the user's manual:

"The charge indicator light (LED), located on the charg- ing stand, will light up red and glow when the char- ger is properly connected to power supply. This light indicates the charger is operating properly. It will remain on until battery pack is removed from charging stand or charger is disconnected from power supply.

After normal usage, 3 hours or less of charging time is required to fully recharge battery pack.

If both red and orange LED indicators glow, the battery pack is deeply or completely discharged, and 6 hours or longer of charging time is required to fully recharge battery pack.

Note: If charger does not charge battery pack or orange LED continues to glow after more than 30 minutes of charging, return battery pack and charging assembly to your nearest Ryobi Authorized Service Center for electrical check."

So to summarize: red = charging. orange (yellow) = fully discharged battery. orange after 30 minutes - bad battery or bad charger.

HTC Shadow II I just purchased this phone used but i got a brand new battery for it. Its been charging for over 30 minutes but it will not power even for a short few seconds. It seems to be dead except for...

I'm afraid that you most likely have been suckered, my friend.  Look on the back of the phone. If the little round sticker (about the size of a pencil eraser) is red, the phone has liquid damage and is most likely causing the battery not to take charge.  If it is still white, then you may have a chance at having the phone replaced by your service provider but the person you purchased the device from will have to place the exchange for you.  Is this also a new charger?  Could be the USB port.....  Good luck!

Battery Charger Olympus li-40c

I had this problem a few weeks ago (i.e. flashing red LED). All I did was remove the power plug from the charging unit, turned it around 180 degrees, then plugged it back into the charging unit. Red LED came on steady & the battery (which is the one that came with the camera) recharged as normal.

Bingo, no problem!

WON"T WORK

sounds like a dead battery. Plug the origional charger into it and the front led (below the flash) should flash red. If the red led in the back of the camera flashes or stays lit, then you have the wrong charger plugged in. (the camera won't power up if the back red/green led is on when plugged in)
