WATER WILL NOT FLOW

My water dispensor INSIDE the door froze up.
I payed a repair guy $75 to use MY BLOWDRYER to "thaw" the frozen water line INSIDE the freezer door (below the water dispenser).

He said anytime the frozen food extends over the freezer shelf and touches the freezer door for a long enough period of time, the water line inside the door FREEZES!!

PREVENTION: "Keep some airspace between the door and frozen food."

Replaced the water filter 3 days ago, no water now. Took filter off and it had so much pressure it almost blew out of my hand. Put old filter back on and same problem. Ice maker works fine.

the frig uses a dual valve and the foutain water is filter water the water line is frozen ( i think ) and if you warm up the freezer it will flow . try it and we'll go from there .. freezer tempt should be around 0 to 5 deg . also ck the water blater behind the crisper and see if its frozen and veg will also freeze . this may be caused by a bad dampner control between the freezer and the fresh food side. mm hope this helps . feed backk pls ..

Water dispenser does not dispense water

At the bottom of the freezer door ( remove the kick plate ) , there will be a water line . Follow this line , about 6 " to a connector . Push in on the white ring and pull out the line , at the same time . Activate the water dispensor pad and see if water flows from the line under the refrig . If it does , then the line in the door is frozen . Either raise the freezer temp for several days , so the line in the door will thaw , or , I have heard using an air tank will blow the ice out of the line in the door or using a can of computer cleaner ( with nozzle ) has worked ,also , turning on the dispenser light for a while also will thaw . If no water comes from the line under the refrig , while activating the pad , then replace the water valve , behind the refrig , the piece the wall water line connects to on the refrig .
If the line is frozen in the door , GE has a heater , pt.# WR49X10173 , to keep this from happening again . Also , turning on the dispensor light for several hours , has been known to thaw the frozen area

Easiest way to thaw out a possible frozen water reservoir in my GE side by side fridge?

Hair dryer is the easiest way to thaw. To find cause: Remove lower grill and disconnect the water line going through the freezer2_bing.gif door hinge. Usually it is a push lock fitting, which requires you to push the ring2_bing.gif on the end of the fitting toward the center of the fitting while pulling (not hard) on the plastic tube. Now place a pan under the separated plastic hose and try the water dispenser. If water comes out, your problem is a frozen water line in the freezer door. A warmer freezer temp may help, or you can order and install a WR49X10173 water tube heater2_bing.gif. (the heater may take 24 hours to thaw the line, but I have used it successfully several times. Cost about $50) If no water comes out the separated tube when you try to dispense water, reconnect the tube at the hinge by pushing the plastic line back into the fitting. Now, at the back of the refrig., disconnect the water line going from the water valve to the fresh foods compartment. Try to dispense water. No water at valve outlet = bad valve. Water dispensed from valve now = frozen water filter2_bing.gif or water line at back bottom of fresh foods compartment. (make sure you disconnect the right tube. If in doubt, disconnect them both, just get them back correctly so your icemaker continues to work) Send me additional comments if needed. Don't rate before you try all the steps.

If water filter or water line/ reservoir is frozen, thaw with a hair dryer. If reservoir is frozen, check to make sure there is no frost on back wall of inside freezer, preventing normal air flow, allowing cold air to enter fresh foods compartment through return air vent at lower back of fresh foods compartment, resulting in freezing of water line / reservoir and possibly food in bottom bin.

There is also a dispensor heater , you may want to install , pt # WR49X10173 . This should keep the water line from freezing again , if it turns out to be that problem .

Can't get water at the dispenser on a GE sxs

GSS25QMFC I beleive is manufactured by GE. The line could definitely be frozen. 99% of refrigerators you cannot get into the doors. They are glued together and filled with spray in insulation. There is no easy way to do it. You can try a hair dryer or just let the fridge sit for 24 hours turned off with the doors open. Another place to check for a freeze up is in the rear of the refrig section. Most refrigerators run the line in the refrigerator to chill the water and if your refrig section gets too cold they can freeze in there. Most of the time refrigerators have a disconnect in the water line at the bottom corner of the freezer door where it goes through the hinge. You might have to yank off the lower grill to see it, but you can sometimes disconnect it there and let water run out. Good Luck

Water dispenser suddenly not dispensing water

Remove the bottom kick plate . Follow the plastic line about 6" and you'll find a connector . Push in on one end of the connector and at the same time , pull the line out . Close the door and press for water . If no water comes out of the disconnented line , the water valve is probably bad . If water does come out , the line inside the freezer door is frozen . If this turns out to be so , you can lower the freezer temp for maybe days , or , put the food on the door, inside the freezer , tape the light switch down ( to keep the lite off and fan running ) and tape plastic over the freezer door opening so the freezer will continue to work . Reinstall the line back into the connector by pushing the hose firmly into place . Leave the freezer door open for maybe 1 or 2 days for thawing out , going by ocassionally and pressing the water dispensor . Important : lower the freezer temperature slightly to keep line from freezing again . ONLY CHANGE THE FILTER WHEN WATER FLOW SLOWS OR ICE CUBES GET SMALL . The change filter lite comes on by the amount of times water dispensor is used and to make money for the vendor .
