Quite easy look on the bottom holding the mouse as you would in use . at the end nearest to you , you will see a arrow pointing to the left under is the battery release slider move it to the left then slide the top cover backwards and reveil the batteries, observe polarity when changing batteries

Sometimes the x54 slot turns off to save power. You will have to go into settings to make sure this is set to stay on. This may also be an issue with your computer itself going into sleep modes to save power. I had a similar issue, and yes, the charging light was on but it wasn't enough to juice up the mouse. If you are sure this is set and it still doesn't work, return the mouse. I am not sure of a way to replace the battery without cracking the case open. It's got some glue on it.

Mouse won't work after battery change

hi, try to perform the steps in the article below from HP.. http://tinyurl.com/y8ek43e and also try to perform a diagnostic test on mouse. if its a HP computer to do so.. go to Start -- All Programs -- PC Help and Tools -- Diagnostic Tool..
once the tool is open go to Communication.. and run a test on mouse.. if ur unable to use it there.. then if ur system is under warranty.. call HP and get the mouse replaced..
let me know if this was useful to u regards, guru

My 5187urf2 keyboard has stopped working. The signal light flashes when I press a key. Also the capslock light is flashing. Any ideas?

the keyboard is recieving power> but if its not working then it can either be the port or the keyboard> swap the mouse and keyboard ports> see if both work or not> if after the swap the mouse works on the keyboard port then <>>>> keyboard is bad>>>.

Flashing red light

Most wireless mice will hibernate after a short period of inactivity. If something bumps the desk or moves the mouse it will start scanning again. If you don't like the light, you could try a laser mouse (no red LED flashing).
