If its new warranty it,
otherwise all it should need is a rebuild kit . its just a bunch of orings and gaskets. pretty easy to do. take some pictures as you take it apart to help with reassembly.
Dewalt should have scematics online or ereplacements.com

My d51238 brad nailer is not retracting nails after the first time

Driver not retracting is caused by bent shaft, oring too tight/loose, check seal missing, or lower bumper cracked/missing pieces. With air hose removed, push driver all the way up with thin metal. Should be rather easy to move. If hard to push, remove head and pull driver to check for items mentioned above. If easy to push up, test gun. If driver stays all the way down, pull cylinder and make sure check seal is in place. If driver goes partially up, oring too tight/loose, lube piston seal with white grease or silicone paste and retest (if bent, adjust or replace). Good luck

How do you remove the front hub to remove the stuck nail

If a nail is stuck between the driver and nose of the gun, you will need to forcefully push the driver back into the gun. Remove the head and cylinder and place the body of the gun on piece of plywood with nose pointing up. Using very sturdy steel rod, hammer the driver down. The steel rod needs to be slightly thinner than the driver to allow for the stuck nail. I use a broken driver ground thinner on the side that will need to bypass the stuck nail. Careful when striking hard steel with hammer, could spinter (I use a heavy brass hammer). Good luck

Hitachi nail gun,piston/nail push rod wont retract after pushing nail (stays protruding out of gun so the remaining nails stay underneath it

You have one or more worn o-rings in the head of the gun. They direct the air to the proper parts of the gun to first drive the nail then to return the driver to the top of the gun for the next nail. Depending on the manufacturer and your model number, some companies make kits to replace the o-rings (always replace all of them). For some companies you have to get a breakdown of the gun and order each o-ring seperately.

The drive that pushes the nail will not retract all the way .. only one nail can be fired then manually push drive up so another nail may be chambered

Hi,
There needs to be a bit of lubrication there...
spray the area with some WD-40 and let it soak...then place a few drops of light motor oil on the driver and then turn it upside down so the oil runs back and lubricates it...

Then it will work...

I have a Bostitch BT200 that is dry firing. It seems that the "hammer" is not retracting after it fires a nail. I have to push it back manually and even then it seems to dry fire a few times before a nail...

The check seal is what causes the piston to retract. Remove cylinder and examine check seal. It is a small band that covers a series of holes and should fit snuggly around cylinder. Other factors that have effect on piston retraction are, split/cracked cylinder, bent driver and lack of lubrication. This gun is tricky to rebuild. Make shure that all the parts in the head are placed correctly. The kit does contain all the parts that you need. Good luck

8 penny nails are stuck in gun. How do you get them out?

If the nails are stuck in the rails, remove the rails and fish them out. The driver on my Bostitch nail gun won't retract

This is usually caused by either a lack of lubrication or a defect in one of the seals. If hte nailgun has been uised a lot, purchase an O-Ring kit and replace all of the O-rings. That should resolve the problem. I believe that these kits are available for around $20-$30.

may be gummed up try spraying with a carburetor cleaner and let it soak than spray with a penetrating oil and try a couple of nails sometimes the gun gets gummed up by the plastic or glue holding the nails together if it still is stuck possible slight burr or bend in rod
