Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

I have an almost 2 yr old 4 ton, Carrier a/c. Performance Series Fan Coils. After no use for approx 2 weeks, when the a/c is turned on, I get a very bad odor that vanishes in a couple minutes. Opened the unit, there is some standing water in the bottom pan. Also, the galvanized steel (I think) coil end caps are pretty heavily rusted. Any comments? Thanks I couldn't find a category, so choosed "fridge".

Sorry for the response delay, Candyh.

Is your solution for the odor or rust or both? Is the coke "poured" over the coils or rustewd endcaps?

    Thanks

I have a new home 1 yr and when the furnace kicks in, I am assuming the fan it makes a noise but as soon as the heat starts the noise is gone, could this be the furnace blower

Check by turning the unit off and turn the fan to on. Do you hear the noise now? The noise your hearing could be coming from your combustion fan assembly instead. Newer furnaces have a in-shot burner and are nosier than the old style of heater.

I have an 8 year old 2 1/2 ton carrier compressor unit. I have already replaced the running coil and contactor. I now want to clean the coils and fan blades on the motor. I have never had reason to remove...

Hey Bernie, it is possible to remove the 4 screws on the grill that the motor is mounted to (not the bolts holding the motor to the grill)and pull up and twist so its upside down and have someone else hold it as to not put to much stress on the wires also be carefull not to put stress on the fan blade they are easily bent and will throw it out of balance and cause vibration. make sure the power is off to the unit and do not use high pressure because it can damage the fins. hose pressure is all you need.

check tightness of grill on outside of condenser, then push on different areas of the unit to see if sound changes or quits, also check all screws etc. & make sure they're all tight,is so it could be fan condenser motor bearings bad fan loose on shaft
