My screen crapped out so i took it back in under warranty, when i got it back it was completly stock with the highest firmwire, and i really wana downgrade. if any one in NZ would be willing to let me use their Pandora Battery (i would be willing to pay), give me any e-mail at sam@dennissystems.net or reply back.

You know, you can simply make your own Pandora's Battery without using another person's custom firmwared PSP.

All you need to do is soft mod your battery.
A tutorial about doing this is here ->
http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-hardware-guides/23870-how-create-pandoras-battery-slim-ms-without-fat-psp.html

(It is specifically used for hacking a PSP slim, but it'll work as a PSP fat hacker too!)

Note that it states that you should use a soldering iron to get the wire disconnected. This is not necessary, as I was able to just pick at it ferociously until I annihilated the wire necessary for it to boot correctly.
If you decide to do this, good luck! It really isn't as hard as it sounds.

If you considered this and don't want to risk it (I got a TINY, (TINY!)) wisp of white smoke from doing it without care, but if you follow all directions you will not end up with smoke. Even with that bit of smoke gone, it still worked excellently.
Feel free to ask me if you have any questions.

Try it!

Hi There!
Honestly, downgrading the firmware is tedious compared to upgrading it. I would suggest you have someone who has the technical knowledge to do this. Failed downgrade could lead to a bricked psp. Which will render it useless. Some can be reflashed and will work back while some cannot.
However, you can purchase a Pandora battery for you PSP. Remember: You CANNOT downgrade your PSP with any firmware higher than 3.50 without a Pandora's Battery.
You may check this link for a self-help guide in making your own Pandora battery. This is for a PSP slim model.

How to downgrade custom firmware 5.51 to custom firmware 4.01

The easiest way to do it is to bring your psp to a game shop that modifies or downgrade/upgrade psp units. If you want to do it yourself you need to have a Pandora Battery and a genuine memory stick duo, download CFW files including Pandora battery files and procedures. Be aware that there s a risk of bricking your psp if you happen to make a mistake downgrading.

My PSP will start if it has no disc in it but if you start a game it will shut down. If you start my PSP with a disc in it, it will power up but won't load any icons. I have tried both these senarios with...

Sounds like you have two options. Call SONY and tell them you love the psp but its crapped out on you. See if they charge u a bit of a fee for some replacement or something.. good luck. THE OTHER THING you could do is find pandora battery, and go custom firmware. That would be like restoring it to its original state, or a new custom firmware state. Thatd do the trick. if you are bold enough to try.. Google the rest playful soul!!

Help

If you have a PSP-1001 or PSP-2001, you can downgrade your psp from 6.10 with a service or pandora battery. If you have a PSP-3001 you are out of luck.

You can create a service (pandora) battery and the 'magic' memory stick from any psp-1001 already running custom firmware. You can also buy them online, and if you look in the local classified ads website where you live, you can probably find people offering a downgrading service.

I cannot run through the steps here but tutorials are all over the net and sites like youtube.

Downgrading my psp 5.51 to 3.70 m33

Sorry Ryan, you will need a service or pandora battery to reload custom firmware.

This will let you back up games you already own and run them from the memory stick.

My psp won't brick and nothind show when i insert my pandora

well, that might be the problem... the pandora can REALLY mess up your psp if you dont know what your doing... as for the disc, you probably could have fixed THAT problem by cleaning the disc.. however you have escalated the problem immensely.. because i dont use pandora, i dont know that much about it, but i do have friends who use it, and they have killed there psp using it.

if you ask me, depending on if pandora is the ONLY thing that wont work, and it can still work properly.. clean the umd.. this can be done multiple ways... the easiest, is to just take a sott cloth that wont scratch the disc, and gently press it against the disc, and rotate the disc untill you get it all, then try again. if the psp wont do anything, then you will need a new psp.. plain and simple... alot of the time, the repairman willl cost more than getting a new psp...

i hope this helps

Psp bricked

It means that the psp you use was hacked and the Sony company shut it down with a new update. Call Sony customer service and ask them, I'm not positive.

Psp not working

This problem occurs when there is some problem with the firmware, it can be happen If you turn off the system or remove the memory stick during an update. If an update is cancelled before completion, the system software may become damaged. if so, you''ll have psp with blank on screen. try remove all plugin MS, Umd, etc, then press bright button of psp. if isn't work you need pandora battery to downgrading your firmware. hope this help.
