I too, turned on my TV today and the 2 - 3 inches on each side are blurry. Also, having problems with a high pitch noise when I turn on the TV. That's been happening since about 3 months after I got the TV.

I have the same issue and it is worsening. The power supply - is this something I can repair or should I bring it to a tech? I get inside computers, not tvs, and I'm afraid of breaking the tv beyond repair ;)

I have this problem as well. what do i do?!?!

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

your power supply... possibly loose connection in your TV powrsupply circuits. It does not produce or regulate the right amount of voltage to produce the complete horizontal scan. you may not notice even the vertical must have changed but normally vertical is not much affected by voltage fluctuation compared to horizontaol circuit

I had this problem as well. I checked out a bunch of sites like this to find an answer, but everyone had a different solution. My girlfriend however saw that one post said something about removing their surround sound speakers from next to the TV. I insisted that this would not work, but she made me take the sub woofer that was about 10 inches under the TV in the entertainment center. To my surprise within 30 minutes it cleared up and had been fine since.Hope this helps some of you, and saves some hassle and money.

Um, i wasn't paying attention. It was this forum, and the guest post on May 12 that i was referring to. Oops. Anyway kudos to that guy, it fixed my blurry picture. Thank you.

Well, the problem has resurfaced already. When i noticed it again i thought back to the day i took the speakers away and remembered that we had tried another solution prior to that. I had read somewhere else that it could possibly be some circuit board that wasn't getting enough power so we plugged it directly into the wall socket rather than the surge protection 10 way that nearly everything in the entertainment center is plugged into. Since the problem came back i figure it wasn't the speakers at all rather than the fact that it wasn't getting enough juice due to all the other things plugged into the 10 way drawing power from the same socket. I plugged the TV directly into the wall socket today and more fuzzy picture, well it took a minute or two. If the problem reoccurs ill try to find another solution and post it. Hope this helps those who have no luck with the speaker solution.

I own the same model of tv and have owned it for over 1.5 years. I moved with it twice. I had this problem about a month ago. On both vertical sides the screen became very fuzzy, yet the center remained clear. When turning the tv off and on I also noticed very wierd red, green, and blue lines streaming across the screen before the picture comes up or after it fades. I found no solution or cause to the problem. But I had two "long-boy" speakers from my panisonic 5.1 surround sound system setup right next the tv on either side. I set the center channel on top of the tv with the receiver on the shelf below. I thought well maybe some how the speakers were cause some sort problem in the tv. I moved the side "long-boy" speakers from directly next to the tv to about 6" away and removed the center speaker from the top of the tv. After several days of normal use of this configuration, the tv turned like normal and the fuzzy edges were gone. The symptoms lasted for around two weeks, and the several days after I moved my speakers. My only guess is that without a deguassing feature, it took several days for the magnitism to return to normal after repositioning my speakers.

When I turn on the TV the right side of the screen starts ghosting and is blurry for about 40 minutes then it starts working perfect again for as long as its turned on being like this over a year any

First of all, try changing the input to some other like a DVD player and see whether you notice the same problem. If yes, the problem is in the input device. If no, there is some defect inside the TV like dry solder, leaky/dry/shorting capacitors etc. and this should be handled only by a qualified service technician.

Red light comes on but then the tv is playing but after about 3 hours it just goes out but I can still hear the sound then if I go back after about 4 to 5 hours if I turn it on it plays no problem. Now the lamp just went. I think before replacing the lamp maybe I should replace cooling fan also.

Watching a football game picture is very unclear

The noise reduction option will cause a blur on fast movement. Also, you probably already know this, but a standard definition broadcast will look very blurry on an HD TV, so make sure the channel you're watching is actually an HD channel.

Oh, wow, I just noticed that this is from October. Oh well, maybe you're still having problems.

I have a Samsung CRT slimfit that I bought in 2006. It has worked splendidly until about 4 months ago and suddenly I have started to notice the edges of the screen about 2-3 inches on both sides have...

In my experience from doing Samsung's warranty work on slimfit sets, they have issues with picture tubes causing problems on the circuit boards. Many times I would replace a board only to have it fail a short time later. The wide crt draws a large amount of current and many have purity (discoloration around edges) problems. I would suggest you try contacting samsung to see if any recall exhists on these and if that doesn't work I wish you luck having it repaired properly for under 275.00
