Your username doesn't have administrative privileges. You'll need to log on using an account with administrative priviliges to perform a system restore.

May 25th my CISnet computer would not start Windows, a file was missing. I did not have my Windows CD so I let the CISnet do the Restore. Can I undo the change after my CISnet computer restore to original...

Try the following;

1. Press "Start" on your Cisnet computer's desktop screen. Scroll up to "Accessories," then hover over "System Tools." Click on "System Restore."

2. Click the option that allows you to select a different restore point, rather than using the default restore point. The program will display a calendar.

3. Select a specific point to restore your Cisnet computer to by choosing a date from the calendar display. Click the "Next" button to confirm, then click "Finish" to close out system restore. Your Cisnet computer will restart and open with the selected settings.

Be sure that you do not unplug your Cisnet computer while running system restore because it will need sufficient battery life to complete the program.

I have a Sony VGC-RC310G desktop computer. Two nights ago, I was downloading updates for windows, from the Microsoft website. I turn it off when i went to bed, and restarted the following morning, only...

So, your description said that you turned off the computer during software update process, that sounds not good at all. Updates need to run to completion, or major failure happens.

You did not mention the version of Windows that you are using, so help is limited.

BE aware that a system restore means all data will be overwritten and lost. I suggest that you extract all data before you do anything. remove the hard drive and hook it up to a good computer, via USB and get all of your files and settings.

The machine probably has the restore files on the D:\drive.

I have purchased Office Home and Student but i cannot put it on my computer

Unless you are running some non-windows operating system, or some very old computer, or your hard disk drive is full, there is no reason why you cant install office on your pc. What version of the Office are you trying to install, how much disk space is required? Make sure your user account, the one you sign into the computer with has the administrator privileges to add and remove software. These abilities will not be enabled if you are using a guest account or a simple use account. things that might interfere are certain malware and virus infections that prevent the user from installing new applications. You can boot into safemode with network support and download Microsoft Security Essentials from the microsoft website. Make sure when you log on using safemode, you are using an accoun that is equipped with privileges to install software. Install the MSE and run a full scan. Then reboot and log in with an administrator privileged account and try installing your MS Office again. Make sure you have sufficient disk space on your hard drive. If you had a trial version of the software that cam bundled on your computer, you may need to uninstall the trial version first. Also, make sure you CD is not damaged. Try it on another machine to see if it will install, if will not, take the CDROM back place of purchase and ask for an exchange.

Hope this helps FixYa! Please leave me some feedback if any of my solutions were helpful.

Changed font size from 96dpi to 120 dpi; made a mess of icons

If you want to revert them back you can either just undo what you did or just do a system restore on your computer. I would take it that you are on XP.

1. Click start then run then type in MSCONFIG
2. Click on lauch system restore.
3. Restore to a point before you changed the dpi
4. Take note that if you restore to a specific date anything that you installed after that specific date till the present will be lost and you have to install them again but files will not be lost.

I hope this has answered your question sufficiently. If you have more questions please post a reply. Thanks.

Need restore dvd for insignia d400a

You can buy it from DELL. They will send it to you for between $20 to $40. Sounds like you have spyware though.

Turn the system restore off. System restore keeps everything in restore. Meaning......... If you have spyware or a virus, it will stay in your system. Run Spybot S&D (This program is free and is better than using msconfig as long as you go through the settings and change everything to the highest settings.) Then do the same with Adaware 2008 (sounds stupid to use 2 things for spyware, but one catches what the other one does not.). I have links on my website (tandnfamilyelectronics-online.com). These links go directly to the download so you will not get the run around. You would do good to try a program called Window Washer. This is a great program that completely cleans anything in your computer that you do not need. It will not clean out anything that you have to have. I have used this for years to clean out my customers computers and have cleaned as much as 3 gigs of trash out. If you contact me I will give you some tools that I have for free that will do a great job on your computer. I have them ready to download and I will give you the link. (dean@tandnfamilyelectronics-online.com)

Window Washer Download.
