I can't seem to get it printing properly in colour - I thought the ink was out so I changed the cartridge. However, the new one is printing just as badly as the old one - in streaks instead of lines. Any suggestions?

the kodak system uses a countdown system that assumes you use a certain amount of ink re sheet regegardless of how much ink you accutualy use, the counter system starts everyt ime you turn the printer on, so the only way to extend the life of the ink is not to turn the printer off netween use, which the domestic useres do not of course do what i did throw the printer away and get a new one not Kodak sh*t
I have personally encountered similar problem in my work. There is no problem with your printer, No need to go to your suppliers yet. Sometimes when either of the inks overflow at the nuzzle, it gets absorbed to an extent into another ink compartment. So that colour affected now prints another colour; the colour that has crept into its compartment, Sometimes it is serious at other times is not. If not serious, usually, after a few solid colour prints the colour affected returns to normal. I do not know how much of a technical person you are, but I will give you the solution to returning that yellow printing red back to printing truly yellow. Bring out your colour cartridge. Peel off the seal covering top. You will see the holes through which in is fed into it. Get a clean handkerchief, fold it and place over the top of the cartridge. Hold it over a bowl or something. Now place your mouth over the top with the handkerchief in between and blow hard. Ink will discharged at the nuzzle. Clean off the ink. (At the nuzzle do not rub only dab). Now press a piece of folded tissue to the nuzzle firmly. It should be blotted with ink:- red, blue, yellow. If any colour is missing you may need to repeat the procedure. Once you get the three colours back, the issue is resolved.
I got a new print head @ "staples" office supplies. It didnt cost me anything!!! Kodak had probs with the head, & gave a bunch to staples.....i changed the head, put in new inks, again...got a calibration to run...& things printed np!!!
ITS NOT THE BLACK CARTRIDGE!!! Try changing the colour cartridge and see what happens. When a 9600 checks ink levels it does the black ink first, then the colour, if the colour is low it goes back and checks the black again but will constantly give an error message for the black cartridge. Sounds bizarre but try just the black cartridge in with no colour. print a test page in black only, if that does not print then it is a fault. Also make sure the driver is updated!!!
this is not a printer problem, you have a problem with colour cartridge! u can fix this in 2 diferent way: 1. replace the colour cartridge with new one, or gently clean the nozzle cartridge with a wet tissue until the cyan colour mark a line on the tissue just like the others colours: yellow and magenta. maybe must repeat this several times.
This has been just happening with me aswell - I just changed the colour cartridge with the black cartridge ran out but i kept it in as it told me to place one in. Trying to print out but black ink wont come - just blank pages - surely the colour cartridge can make black? However, if you have the colour cartridge and are on microsoft word or similar, change the colour of the writing to dark navy and it will print out documents.
its ok I solved it! I didn't realise that all the photo cartridge does is gloss over the colour picture produced by the colour cartridge. I simply had to replace the colour cartridge which had run out, so now its all working perfectly!!
