If the DVD you are buying is original then it will just work on your ps2 that is also not downgraded. But if the DVD you bought is downgraded and your PS2 is not then it won't work. look for a technician who can downgrade your ps2 to read pirated copy of games. In philippines, we don't buy original copies, we just download it from the internet and burn it to a dvd. At the same time we downgrade our PS2
I had the same problem with my ps2. I found a solution that might help you. take a Q-tip and dip it in rubbing alcohol or water just intil damp. gently clean the eye and the rest of the disk tray. then dry it the other end of the Q-tip. when the eye dirty with dust or a hair or a small speck of paper or plastic from a disk will slow the ps2 down when loading. hope this helps!
What you probably have is a disc read error, if you don't want to get a new system first you can always open it and repair yourself but that voids the warranty but is voided after the 30th day, I have tried it a few times in the past and it works but is time consuming and if your not careful you can break it beyond use. But if you're brave read this article. http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars
if your console is slim-pstwo, you have bad laser & need replacement with new laser. for ps2 chubby You can attempt to adjust it with the little white wheel, but this is not always successful. left for cd format & right for dvd format. hope this help.
Hi Emily, this is the ABSOLUTE fix to that problem.
Put 1 piece of tape (2 pieces total) on each side of the hole thats in the center. The 2 pieces of tape should be parallel to each other and as close to the hole without touching it.
Use regular clear "invisible" tape. If it does not work with just 1 piece, add another piece of tape directly on top of the other pieces to make it thicker. OR just use the sticky part of a post-it which is a little thicker than regular tape.
I tried this the 1st time, & have not had any further problems for 6 years!
Make sure the disk is compatible and not damaged.Try playing another disk and see what happens if you still do not get anything you may want to consider a xbox or 360 with remote control for dvds. Also check to see if ps2 has a remote for playing dvd disc. never worry!!
