Whirlpool Front load washer, tear in the boot that the door close

The boot will tear if the drum bearing has excessive play.

The front door seal is referred to as the "bellow". They will wear out with age and may become mishapened from repeated pressure from the door being closed. Over time the bellow can stretch or develop rips and tears and begin to leak. If the bellow is leaking, or no longer providing a good seal, it must be replaced. This will cause water to puddle under the front of the washer and inside the cabinet. The following link explains how to access and replace one:

NOTE: If you leave the door OPEN between washes this will help prevent constant pressure on the door seal which can stretch it out of shape over time. It is also beneficial to allow the wash tub to air out to prevent mold and mildew from forming. In addition, overloading the washer can contribute to premature wear and tear on the bellow which can lead to rips, tears and possible dislodging from the bellow clamp seals. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations for loading in your owner's manual.

If the tear is small, try using silicon glue to repair it--clean the surface of the boot and apply the glue. Let dry for 24 hours before using the machine. If the tear is large, the boot must be replaced. It can be done from the front without removing the cabinet, but it's tricky. These tears usually occur when trying to remove jeans and a metal button catches the rubber.

check tub boot for any tears in lip that seals to door zippers etc. can tear this.also sometimes water can leak from pump cleanout.you would need to remove bottom panel to check this

NOTE: THe bellow does wear out from time to time and will need to be replaced. However, using too much detergent, the wrong type of detergent, or loading the washer excessively can contribute to premature wear and tear and deterioration.

There should be a filter screen (usually white) before the pump assembly. It should be installed behind lower front panel.
Also you can buy a fabric net clothes bag for the washer to stop small thin fabric items from going into the filter assembly.

Check your inside seal between the door and the drum for tears. If it is torn it will need to be replaced.

you need to check the door boot to see if it has a tear in it? if something was left in a pocket it may have torn it and it will need to be replaced. hope this helps.

The rubber boot that surrounds the door inside likely has a tear in the rubber. If the tear is small, you might be able to fix it with an application of weather strip cement. A large tear means replace the boot.

My husband used super glue on the tear and for now the washer is not leaking.
