I have a problem printing with my lexmark P707 model no 4136-KP1. Everytime I go to print it says incorrect port detected. This printer is designed to work with USB cables only. I have used the same cable previously to print so I do not know what is the problem.

It could be due to the Print Spooler on your computer. Please follow steps below to ensure print spooler service is running and print queue is clear from pending print jobs.
Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET STOP SPOOLER" (this will stop the print spooler service)
Browse to your windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS\ folder. You should see files there ending in .SPL and .SHD created around the time you tried to print - delete these files.
Browse to Start -> Run... and type in "NET START SPOOLER" (this will restart the print spooler service)
Double click the printer icon in the lower-right corner of your taskbar to examine your print job queue and browse to View -> Refresh.
Yes the problem is with your printer port setting, to view or to correct the printer port setting, - go to CONTROL PANEL - click or open Printer or Faxes - right click your Lexmark printer and click properties - a menu will appear, choose or click PORT tab - at the Port tab listing, choose USB port and click ok after choosing the right port.
then you should be able to print properly after the right configuration.
Installing like this Lexmark are Plug in Play, Windows automatically detected such devices connected on it. If not then try to use another USB Connector to see which is the problem occur or might be your printer too... Good luck!
I'm assuming you're using Windows XP. If not, these directions may differ a little.
Click Start > Printers and Faxes.
Right-click on Lexmark X75, and then click on Properties.
Click on the Ports tab.
Find Lexmark X75 under the Printers column (or look for which item under the Port column is checked).
Chances are it somehow got changed to COM or LPT. Find any available USB port and check it. Click Apply.
Try to print. If it doesn't work now, you'll probably get a different error, something like "Cannot Communicate". If that happens, go back to theProperties window and try checking any other USB ports you see there. If there aren't any more to try, you may have to uninstall and reinstall the drivers to get it working.
This is a photo printer. My regular printer will not print photos and if I am correct photo printers will not print regular documents. They are made for separate document types (ex. doc and jpeg). This is so the corporate winners can steal more money from the consumer. I am sure there are printers out there that do both, but your printer is specifically a photo printer. Ask a tech at Best Buy or Circuit City. Let me know what they say.
