E system 1212 Laptop won't switch on. Power

Laptops are so integrated that usually a system failure that involves power issues such as in your case where you cant get it turn on with anything on the screen mean the mainboard (motherboard) is damaged. This usually leads to buying a new laptop or paying for the board to be replaced which usually costs as much as the laptop.

A faulty charger with a kinked cable cause a short while my HP 6710b laptop was running out of battery. With a new charger the laptop shows no sign of life (no power light on), so is the system board...

Welcome to fixya

Unfortunately it seems that the system is having a no post/no power issue. Since you have a new ac adapter the system should power on with that, Please note that the dc connector is also part of the motherboard. I also believe that the motherboard was damaged due to the shor.

My laptop is Hp Pavilion and my battery doesn't charge though it shows that the power is plugged in.It's at 38% and when power is disconnect ,the laptop goes off. What do i do?

Hi,
Sadly it seems you have a dead battery on your hands. If it's still under warranty i would advise to activate it and get a new one. If not, you can find cheap batteries on your local dealer (compatible ones may be cheaper but may void your warranty. If possible always use original parts).
Hope i was of any help.

My laptop shows red cross sign in battery and says consider replacing a battery!!what to do does it have any solution and battery life has decreased to 50 min. from 2 and half hour,i bought it just a year...

Hi there,

If the message says consider replacing the battery, I guess the battery life is about to end.

Its good to replace the battery if you have used to laptop for more that 3 years now. Normally that is the max battery life.

However, if the laptop is new and still under warranty, you need to contact your vendor for possible free replacement, since it is abnormal for the battery to wear in such a short time.

Also make sure the replacement battery is perfectly compatible to your laptop. Your vendor can guide you more.

I have replaced batteries in the past. Remove it from the laptop and get the number off of it. Then you can go and Google the number to find a reasonably priced replacement.

Hope this helps you.

How hard to replace southbridge on Toshiba A135?

If you have to ask "how", then you probably should take the computer to a qualified technician, in order to properly disassemble/reassemble the laptop, and to replace the motherboard, using the correct skills/tools.

Either that, or extract the disk-drive, and sell the computer "as is" on eBay, and use the money to buy a newer/faster computer.

HP pavillion dv6000 will not turn on

This could be many things, such as a dead battery, faulty charger, dead motherboard, faulty outlet the laptop is plugged into. Now, if the lights are on but the laptop will not boot up or show life on the screen, then most likely that is a dead motherboard due to a failure of the graphics chip. If there are lights, but there is no HDD or fan activity, then that is a failure of the motherboard. If the computer shows signs of booting, HDD lights are active, try to see if you can see a failnt image on the screen, it may be very faint and hard to see anything. This would indicate afailure of the screen inverter and would just need an inverter replaced.

Inspiron runs on ac power but not battery

Sounds like you have a faulty ac adapter or jack on the laptop and its not charging the battery fully. More like a trickle charge. I would recommend leaving the laptop on default power settings or the best power settings and see if their is a differance in life or either shutdown the laptop and let it charge until the light shows fully charged.

No power

Two things you can do. 1- remove the battery and try starting with the supply only. Dell batteries are notorious for causing a no start. 2- remove the memory and try starting with one chip in one then the other slot, then try the other chip. A bad memory chip can also cause a no start. If these don't correct the problem, then it's going to be with a motherboard component, most likely the power management system. You will need to take it in for a professional diagnostics in order to trace the exact problem area.
