I NEED TO CONNECT MY I MATE K JAM WITH MY LAP TOP THRU USB CABLE...........& USE MY GPRS SIM TO USE INTERNET FACILITY. I VE A GPRS SIM IN MY I MATE K JAM AND I WANTED TO LINK MY PHONE WITH MY LAP TOP THEN USE I MATE K JAM AS A MODEM ? PLEASE ADVISE / REGARDS

What is the model of your Imate?

Here some tips:

Your i-mate™ JAMA 101 can be configured to act as a modem for your PC, allowing you to have a connection to the internet for your PC while you are out of the office or away from home. Your PC can be connected to your i-mate using Bluetooth® or a USB cable.
Although setting the device up for Internet sharing the first time may take some minutes, you only need to do these actions once per PC. Subsequent connections are quick and are explained at the end of each configuration.
Before you start, you must ensure ActiveSync 4.2 or later version is installed on your PC. You can find this program on the Getting Started CD that came with your device. You cannot run this function with earlier versions of ActiveSync.
These instructions show how to set up your PC for connection over GPRS, please contact the customer support team if you wish to connect over a circuit switched connection.
If you are running Windows Vista on your computer, you do not need to install Activesync.

Your device is equipped with powerful networking functions that enable you
to connect to the Internet through a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS)
network. GPRS is a service that allows information to be sent and received
across a mobile telephone network.

Your device is able to configure itself for data services for many of the major
GSM/GPRS operators across the world. Simply insert your SIM card and switch
on your device. When the device powers on it will prompt for the configuration
steps and configure itself for Web, MMS, and WAP services. If the settings are
not known for your operator, the device will notify you and you will need to enter
these manually. You should contact your Network Service Provider.

How to connect to internet
u need to get gprs serv active from spice first..... call their cc to get service settings..
actually in start>settings>connections>connections.. u need to setup a connection that uses a modem cellular line (gprs)... that will do for u.. rest settings will be provided by spice,, like access point name,, ip addresses..

Unable to use internet
there is a utility called i-mate configurator. Simply tap it , it will automatically detect the SIM card and if GPRS service is enabled on that SIM, it will configure it that too.
