Troy-Bilt Model 834, no self propel

Verified no cable is broken at the handle. When squeezed, cannot feel the cable movement under the deck. Noticed a notch in the back of the deck, is this were the drive cable is suppose to connect? If not, am I dealing with a broken cable?

Troy bilt self propelled assembled in the box got it out of the box and finished setup but when it came to the pull start cord it would not pull am i missing something?

The unit has a safety feature that stops the engine with a brake when you release the handle. In order to start the engine you have to release this brake by squeezing the handle lever as if you were mowing. You have to hold this lever in that position as you pull the cord.

How do you tighten the control cable on a Troy Bilt mower?

Usually near the end of the cable there is a squeeze clamp on the side of the cable. Losen the mounting screw (DO NOT remove it) and slide the cable in the direction that will expose more cable. Tighten the mounting screw and test the control. It is really pretty simple.

Self Propelled mower quit self propelling

you probaly have a broken gear or engagment lever. the part the cable goes through before the cable goes thru the deck. you also could have sheared a pin or the plastic gear that drives it.

The self propel doesn't work when I pull the handle.

does it feel softer to pull than usual? if so it is probally a cracked or broken lever on the transmission. also could be a belt the plastic covers under the deck are bolted in place and i think about 6 screws hold them in place. also check the cable from the clutch lever

Can't find the oil drain plug on Troy Bilt with 5.5 Honda engine

You may want to look under the deck. They sometimes put them there. And if it is a self propelled, you will probably need to remove or loosen the plastic cover that protects the self propelled belt.

You are looking for a nickel sized plug that has a square peg. Use an extension piece for a socket set if you don't have the proper plug removal tool.

Hello:

Send me the Model and Type or Spec Numbers Off the Engine and the Mower Model Numbers, Please. With these I can Locate the Proper Manual and Better Assist you. The Engine Model Numbers May be Stamped Into the Blower Housing (metal engine cover) Above the Spark Plug. The Mower Model Numbers are Usually Located Under the Seat on a Sticker on the Body of the Mower.
