When I turn on my computer I get a message which tells me to update definitions on my program options page. Where is this site located? Is it self-explanatory once I find the site?

To open Webroot, double click on the icon on your desktop or find it in the start menu. If it is the first time you are running the program, it will prompt automatically to update the definition file. However if it not the first time, once the program has opened click on "Home" on the left hand side of the open window. There should be two options-check for program updates or check for definition updates. Simply click on check for definition updates and you should be good to go :)

IT SAY THAT MY ANTIVIRUS IS AT RISK

The main cause of any antivirus being at risk is when it has not been updated either for virus definitions or for program updates.

Check that your antivirus is up to date and that there are no updates for the main program itself.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Webroot Antivirus

Webroot anti-virus and Spy Sweeper also have some advantages and disadvantages and those are:

You will remain safe online with these shields as exploits and other threats are blocked. This shield is available for incoming and outgoing messages and there will be chance of accidental forward threats. The two powerful components antivirus and antispyware are included in this program. The antivirus component can be used for business security and Webroot Spy Sweeper manages the antispyware element.

Sounds like you have a virus. I would run Windows Defender, as well as your anti-virus program. FREE TIP: Free Anti-virus software is not as affective as one that is paid on a monthly (or other payment terms) basis. This is because with the paid software, it automatically updates virus definitions keeping your computer free of virus, worms etc.
I strongly suggest purchasing, if you're in a position to, Webroot. Please visit http://www.webroot.com for details. I have been using it since 2008, and I renew my user licence ever year or two. I am protected up until 2013 right now, of which I paid up at the beginning of 2008, and again in 2009. You can purchase a multi-user license which offers protection for up to three computers. You simply install the program on each computer that you want protected. Be advised however, if you get a new computer, remember to un-install it from the old one (if not using anymore, or if you have more than three) before installing on the new one. And, do not install on more than three, or you will violate the multi-user contract and may have your contract suspended. Webroot is an awesome program, and they have several.
Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Unable to download vista service pack 2 from website. As soon as i click enter system shutdowns What should i do? As i using Genuine Vista premium edition

The first thing you might try is if you have auto-updates on for Windows, turn it off. Start>control panel> and either security center (WinXP) or Windows Updates, if you're running Vista. In the windows update window, in the left menu is a selection called 'Change Settings'. Click on this to turn updates off and on and to control how updates are handled.

Is your system shutting down only then? You may have a virus or other nasty. If you have an antivirus program installed please update the definitions and run a virus scan. If you don't have a current antivirus program installed download Antivir here . After you download it drop the download window into your task bar by select the _ in the upper right corner of the window. If you have another antivirus installed but the subscription has run out and you can no longer update it, remove it by going to start>control panel>add/remove programs (XP) or Programs and Features in Vista. Allow the list to populate and then uninstall the antivirus program. Also, in Vista you must disable 'Windows Defender' before installing Antivir. Start>control panel>Windows Defender> and scroll down to where it says, "use Windows Defender". Deselect that setting and that should turn it off. At any rate Antivir will alert you that's Defender is on and will give you instructions as to how to disable it. Upon successful install of Antivir it will automatically update the virus definitions and then initiate a virus scan.

You can also download and install Malwarebytes and run a quick scan. Malwarbytes can be found here: http://filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/

Once you've installed the program it should automatically launch and then do a database update. If it doesn't update on the tabs the third tab is 'update'. You can manually update the database from there. This program is pretty intuitive and easy to use. Just do a quick scan which is selected by default. You will probably have to let the program reboot to clean anything it's found at load up of the system.

Please let me know if this helps. If not we can try to find another solution.

Start laptop in safe mode. F8 when starting BEFORE windows- Choose Safe mode.

Use a wire network connection to Download this software..  Spybot Search and Destroy  http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html. Also download the updates

If does not connect in safe mode, then download software and updates on another pc and save to USB or CD..  take to laptop or any pc with malware.

Install the SW.  Install the updates. Reboot, again .. in safe mode..

run the Sybot SW..   Delete everything it says is bad..   Re boot..

For virus Use Trend Micro Standalone AV and malware remover. Read this.. http://www.trendmicro.com/ftp/products/tsc/readme.txt

Unzip it into a folder.  Download and unzip the latest versions of the following pattern files:

This file must be saved in the same folder where you run this fix package.

into the same folder with other files..
This tool is designed to run under Windows NT/2000/XP/2003/VISTA/7 32-bit. Copy folder and all contents on infected PC in Safe Mode. and run the Sysclean.com module.. (double click it)

This is more than likely a message from your Anti-Virus program. Quick fix would be to uninstall your anti virus program and reinstall it. Or you can just uninstall this AV program and install the free AV program called AVG. Click on AVG to download it. Hope this helps.
