Question about GE GSL25JFPBS Side by Side Refrigerator

GE side by side GSL25KGREBS

First my waterline stopped working, but I have great spring fed tap water so I ignored it (the icemaker still worked). Now, the ice & outside light won't work either and the fridge has started to click & the light inside flickers with the clicking, I noticed a fan in the freezer is also moving slowly to the clicking. It's still cold inside the freezer & fridge?! HELP?!
Comment by shannon4, posted on Mar 08, 2008 We tested the valve to find the red reads 183 & the blue reads nothing. So we'll go ahead and replace it. However, the ice dispenser still does not work? We assume this is whole other problem?!
Comment by shannon4, posted on Mar 08, 2008 How do you test the actuator? Thanks for all the help!
Comment by shannon4, posted on Mar 15, 2008 Ok, water inlet valve replaced-everything is the same. When we had the fridge pulled out we noticed the clicking came from the area of the computer panel. We also noticed the fan at the bottom stop in repitition with the clicking-not just the freezer evaporator fan. When we push on anything in the dispenser area it clicks twice in back. Is there anything else we can check?!

We are having the same clicking noise and the temperature gauges that are inside the fridge door turn off. Also, the water dispenser and ice maker don't work, but then if we turn off the fridge and then on again (reset) the water and ice will work for awhile, but the clicking noise it still there.

We went ahead & called a repairman. He replaced the computer board in the back-apparently it was still under warranty. $60 & evertyhings back to normal. Nobody on Fixya ever said anything about the computerboard...

Same problem here. Called local service tech and he said it was a common manufacturer defect with some GE refrigerators. I called GE and they don't have a recall or any formal documentation available to Cust. support people but found this on another site. A Replacement Program my GE, letter to GE service techs regarding problem. My model was listed and i am ready when the GE tech comes tomorrow that he knows about it.

Why has my GSS25 ice maker quit working? Water dispenser is fine.

The icemaker could be frozen where the water supply comes into the icemaker this sometimes happens if the water was recently shut off or you had low water pressure. Unplug the fridge and try using a hairdryer to defrost where the waterline comes into the freezer. I would assume you already checked to see the icemaker was turned on and the bail was in the down position. If you did All things i mentioned plug in the fridge and test if it still won't make ice afterwards you will need to replace the icemaker. The replacement should come with instructions.

Is there a shut off valve on the ice maker?

There should be a shut off valve at the beginning of the water line that the installer tapped into when installing your icemaker. Mine runs down through my kitchen floor into my laundry room and is tapped into a copper cold waterline with a small handle attached to it.

To stop icemaker from making ice simply raise the lever to the up position that is attached and hangs next to your icemaker tray. This works on most models.

Hooked up waterline to side by side frigiedaire,

Your inlet tube that goes to the icemaker may be frozen. To Check: Shut off water supply to Fridge, disconnect the water line that goes to the icemaker at top back. Use a flexible item to insert in the water line connection. I used a zip tie. If the flexible item won't all the through to the ice maker, the line is frozen. Thaw out the tube from inside the freezer with a hair dryer. Re-connect everything, you now have ice . . . Solution #2: You may have to replace your "Water Inlet Valve" located at bottom right rear of Fridge. Easy to do, just follow the color codes, be sure and shut off the water.

chances are your waterlines and motor are frozen, which indicates you may have a leak somewhere, causing ice build-up

Ice/Water Dispenser in Freezer door not working when you press the lever. Also the light dims when lever is pressed. Icemaker working fine.

Sounds like a frozen waterline. I fixed mine by leaving the light on the dispenser on. It took about 6 hrs, but the little heat from the light bulb was enough to defrost the water line.
