Everything works but can't get sound for this turntable.
What could need repair?
It's more than likely your tonearm or your RCA cables. Does the sound come in at all? Try wiggling the RCA cables. If no sound whatsoever, then more than likely it's your tonearm, and will need to be replaced.
Tonearms for this model are available HERE, however, I don't recommend trying to replace this yourself, as it is rather complicated, and you could cause more damage to the unit.

just got a technics 1200 mk2 off ebay......hooked up to my sansui amp - it worked but the left channel wasn't coming in. there's nothing wrong with the amp as my other turntable, cd, tape deck all work. i jiggled the technics rca cord and now i don't get any sound at all. so i'm guessing i got a bad rca cord??? is it something i could replace myself???
i just bought a used technic 1200 mk2 and it appears to work. you can still hear the dim sound off the record directly..and my phono connection from my amp to my speakers isnt the problem. i have no idea how to go about diagnosing or fixing the problem. any suggestions or anyone know what it could possibly be?
Unplug the turntable from your amplifier and plug another unit into the phono input on your amp just to make sure the input works.
Have you tried a new cartridge?
Have you checked the connections in the headshell?
Are you sure your amplifier is switching correctly?
