Question about GE WDSR2080D Top Load Washer

2 Answers

We just installed a new GE washing machine and just tried to wash our first load (a large bedspread). When the machine got to the rinse - spin cycle, it really made such a racket and moved about on the floor that we stopped the machine and put the bedspread in the dryer. We did not receive any instruction manual with the machine. Do you think it is a problem with leveling or what? Can we download an instruction manual that might help us with this problem????? Any advice you can give us would be greatly appreciated.

There's a very good possiblity that the washer may require some leveling, but there's a lso a good possibility that the bed spread may have caused the problem. If the only thing you were washing was the bed spread this can be a difficult weight to distribute EVENLY around the wash tub when the washer goes into the spin cycle. This problem can be common when washing single large items such as bed spread, comforter, sleeping bag, etc. The tub needs to stay balanced in order for the spin cycle to run with no vibration.

To check the level of the machine, it needs to be level front-to-back and side-to-side. Also, the flooring UNDER the washer needs to be substantial enough to support the weight. If the floor flexes, your washer will walk. This can be common in mobile homes and upstairs laundry rooms.

If you need a manual for the washer, try In the Search window, use the drop down menu and select "Use and Care Manuals". Type in your COMPLETE model number in the adjacent window and you should be able to find what you're looking for. If your owner's manual is not listed, the web site posts a toll free number (1-800-626-2005) that you can call as well.

I hope this helps you.

PS I searched for it and found two manuals listed that can be downloaded for free. Make sure you have the correct last three letters of your model number and Adobe Acrobat reader on your computer.

Brand new front Load GE washing machine stop at rinse cycle

Check that the Cold water valve faucet is open. Perhaps the earlier vibration problems have caused a wire to come off the water valve connections inside the machine.

GE Top Load Washing Machine -- Agitator will not cycle

Agitator's don't spin on wash cycle.

I would suggest washing the clothes without soap until they rinse clear. If you have hard water, the soap will not easily rinse out of clothes, or off of you when you use soap to wash or shower.

Reduce the amount of soap you use in each wash if this is the case. It sounds like your washing machine is working right.
