Oven door Our oven door fell off, no joke. How do you re-attach the bottom part of the door. The hinges seem to be spring loaded, but the slots won't stretch out far enough to fit back into the grooves. Is there some trick to it? Will

how do I remove the oven door to replace hinges and springs

A couple people suggested to use a couple of shims to hold the spring loaded part open enough to hook it back on, then remove the shims.

Cannot put the oven door back on

Hi Elspeth:
Don't know what make or model you are dealing with, but from personal experience, here's what I dealt with.
- Oven door is mounted on spring loaded hinges. That's what keeps it in the closed position.
- To remove the door, it has to be fully opened, then lifted from close to the hinges, and slid out.
- To put the door back on, the hinges have to be in the "door open" position. Since they are spring loaded this can be tricky getting them into position.
- It's easier with a helper, one on each side....... slide the hinge legs into the slots. You'll need to lift the door slightly towards the closed position to allow the hinge legs to engage in the secure or latched position.
Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Oven door doesnt close well

I'm not familiar with your oven but most oven doors are very similar in operation. When the door doesn't close well it's generally because the hinges have been stretched/bent when the oven door has been open. To see if this is the case, open the door fully. If it's stretched the door will open past 90 degrees (slope down instead of being horizontal). The easiest way to fix this is to bend it back. Place something as a spacer between the door and the oven on both sides (like a spanner handle or anything strong and about 8mm thick) as close to the hinge as possible. Close the door against it carefully and push the door closed. Do it a little at a time and remove the spacers and try the door each time until you are happy that it closes nicely again. It should be spring loaded closed slightly.

Bottom oven goes off with F64 message

If you look under the bottom door you will see a 3/4" tall slot the entire length of the door. This is where the cooling air blows out. In the middle of this slot is the air switch enclosed in a 5" long metal housing. You can see a thin metal paddle sticking out of each side of the housing. These paddles are spring loaded to angle slightly back. When the fan is on, the airflow will push the paddles forward. If they do not move forward, then you will get the error code. The simplest solution is to vacuum out all of the normally collecting dust that keeps the paddles from moving. To better access and clean the area, the black trim piece that forms the slot can be removed by unscrewing the two retaining screws. That can be more easily accomplished by first removing the lower door. This is very simple. With the door fully open, rotate the small metal clip on each hinge so it hooks over the protrusion on the other part of the hinge. Then lift up on the door (close it part way) and slide (pull) the door and hinges out of the hinge slots. There is no need to remove the entire unit from the wall.

My roper oven door fell off. We have tried locking the spring loaded hinges in place but they don't stay long enough to fit them into the grooves.

I put something behind the hinges, usually screwdriver handles, to hold them open long enough to slide the door onto the hinges. If you have the style that has the hinge on the door, you usually have to stick a nail into a hole in the hinge (in the open position), that is designed to hold it in the open position. Install the door, and remove the nail. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Doors don't shut all the way and light stays on

It sounds like your door hinges are worn, usually on older ovens due to weight of door. Most oven doors can be removed by simply raising the tabs/ fitting small screwdriver on both hinges(refer to user manual) etc. Once door is removed you can place a medium size screwdriver or similar in the hinge slot, pushing the hinge plate on the bottom in an outward direction, thereby bending this plate(very slightly) forward. This will make the door close fully, activating the door switch, and turning off the oven light. This is only a short term solution, as this hot air escaping can lead to further problems. Hinge pair will need replacing. Door hinges are spring loaded ALWAYS KEEP FINGERS AND HANDS CLEAR OF LOADED HINGES.

The oven door fell off how do i put it back on?

hi. most oven doors are removable. Since yours is off let me help you put it back on. The hinges will pull out and stay out about 1/3 of the way. Get both hinges situated that way and then carefully slide the door back onto the hinges thru the slots on the bottom of the door. This is easier if you have another person to assist you.

Oven door closure

I had the same problem, the door will come off by opening it partially and lifting it up off the hinge brackets. Be careful, because the brackets are spring loaded and will snap shut when the door is removed. You will find a hinge pin with a spring clip at the bottom of the hinge. It's likely that the spring clip has come off of one of the hinges and the pin fell out. You can find the drawings and part number(s) on the "partsdirect" website using your model number, and even order them there.
