I have a Proview MA-982KC (Unbranded) 19 inch tft monitor. It's about a year old and now won't stay switched on. It's like the power cable doesn't stay in place so I think it's a loose connection. However I can't get the case open. I don't want to force it.
So what I'd like to know is, how do I open it and if I do how easy would it be to fix.
Your problem seems to point to your video card. Your video card needs a driver to function. Odds are good that you need to install a video card. Avoid using the built-in Windows driver. A new video card has a CD with it. Use that. With your driver installed, configure your display settings. The Display applet on the Control Panel is your next step. The Display applet provides a convenient central location for all of your display settings. Go there and make your setting using the tabs. You can crash Windows and force a reinstall simply by installing a new video card and not uninstalling the old card's drivers. Always uninstall the old card's drivers before you install drivers for a new card.

mrhackshack, Part of "switch-mode-power-supply" is going into SHUTDOWN mode having detected FAULT with other circuit (INVERTER) maybe???? Inverter lights-up the "cold-cathode-fluorescent-lamps" that provide RAW WHITE LIGHT so you can see all the pretty colors on the LCD GLASS PANEL. Technician will need to evaluate it!! Try YOUTUBE for vids on LCD TV repair and see if you can pull-off a DIY repair. Also see vids of LCD monitor repair and LCD monitor disassembly FYI. 12fixlouie Hope this points you in direction you need to go?????
"IF YOU HAVE THE ON FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN OFF PROBLEM, DONT REPLACE ANYTHING UNTILL YOU HAVE TRIED THIS"
hey guys i have the 2second problem aswell but!, i was just about to throw mines away when i can stumbled across away how to get it working proper again and again and again!. ive seen lots of help pages like this where everyone is talkin about replacing parts, but if u screen flicks on and then off it should work with my quick fix. heres how and i hope it works for you.
Boot up ur pc as u would usually and wait awhile untill you think everything has loaded up or has reached the logon stage.
Then if you look carefully at ur screen and press the menu button you should be able to see it thery faintly (i shine a lamp at it to see better).
Then i cycle through OSD (on screen disply) menu using the up or down buttons on my monitor untill i see the "AUTO" option. at this stage i press MENU button "2 times"
Then i cycle through the OSD untill i see the "RESET" option and again i press the MENU button to confirm the reset.
Then simply press the power button to switch it off and then back on....HEY PRESTO! it working again.
I have told 11 people this fix and they all reported back that it works for them 2. this method should work every time aslong as you stiil can see the green LED on ur monitor.
