My brother mfc240c is out of ink, but won't scan to file. help
My brother mfc 240C will not scan to file, I had to get new ink cartridges and they are not here yet (via mail). So, I'm not printing, just scanning, why won't my scanner work? I truly hate this machine. Its very fussy.

The four ink cartridges on the Brother MFC-240C are located on the right side of the printer. Pull open the gray cover (there's a tab on the right side) and then you'll see a purple handle for each cartridge. Pull out the handle for the cartridge you want to replace, slide the cartridge out, then slide the new cartridge in (after removing it from the packaging and taking off the yellow plastic cover).
Once you insert the cartridge so it snaps in place and close the cover, the machine should recognize the new cartridge.
Hi, I would uninstall the dodgy mydvd program, and use Spybot to clean up the malware it has spread on your system.
But you can still scan and copy by using Windows Photo Gallery.
1. Click on files tab at the top in Window Photo Gallery.
2. Click on import from camera or scanner.
3. Highlight your scanner icon (ie Brother MFC240c) then click import.
4. New scan window will popup, now you can preview or scan using this basic looking Vista utility.
First make sure that you are using Brother Cartridges, their machines are very sensitive to using generic ink. Put a brand new set of ink in the machine. Pull all the old cartridges out and put all new cartridges in. If this does not resolve the issue contact Brother, they are very good about helping their customers.
Did you use generic ink? These generic carts are different (no seal to prevent staining). This carts stain the led control circuit board which has to be replaced by a new one (the spare part is only avaiable as the whole ink cart holder incl. led board and tubes).
Hey its very simple, you'll need a syringe and an exacto knife. You just need to pop the case in half use the exacto knife to cut the seem very carfully and to pry the cartridge apart carfully. On the back of the cartridge you'll see a little indintation were it was filled in the factory just fill the cartridge with a syringe push in the indintation fill cartridge remember to leave a little air in there and seal the hole up so it's air tight again this can be done by using a little hot glue to seal the hole. I hope I was helpful. As well you can by a continous ink system for the brother 240c which is pretty need too
