If that doesnt work, try running MSCONFIG from Run in Start Menu, and go to the startup tab.

Remove Magnifier.exe if it is on there. There are a few other things to try.

You probably have it setup in you Startup folder. Go to Start/Programs/Starup and delete Magnifier.

Hope that helps.

How to get rid of ads on my screen when I go to my in box in Yayoo mail

You can either temporarily hide the ads that keep popping up on your Yahoo Mail page or block them permanently. To know how, refer to the steps below.

To temporarily hide ads (for free email accounts):
1)Sign in to your Yahoo Mail account
2)When, while viewing your list of emails or a particular email, an ad pops up, you can see a right-facing arrow between your email and the advertisement. Click on this arrow.
3)The ad will get hidden temporarily.
(Important: This blocks the ads temporarily only and as soon as you perform the actions like refreshing the Yahoo Mail page, marking a particular email as spam, replying to an email, or just clicking on any of the sections in the navigation-menu located on the left of the page, a new ad may pop up again).

To permanently remove graphical and text ads:
Yahoo Mail has recently come up with "Yahoo Ad Free Mail" service to enable you to get rid of graphical and text ads on a permanent basis when viewing your Yahoo Mail account from a computer. You need to sign up for Yahoo Ad Free Mail account before starting using this service.
(Note: Before signing up for Yahoo Ad Free Mail account, please check if the service is available in your region. Also, even after subscribing to the service, the subscribers may still get the text ads that come up on Yahoo Mail on a mobile web browser and the text ads that come up in the "Basic Mail" interface of Yahoo Mail on a computer. To know what Basic Mail is, refer to the following Yahoo webpage: https://help.yahoo.com/kb/mail-for-desktop/basic-mail-sln5171.html)

Welcome to FixYa!

Using Dell PC Restore by Symantec

Use Dell PC Restore by Symantec only as the last method to restore your operating system. PC

Restore restores your hard drive to the operating state it was in when you purchased the computer.

Any programs or files added since you received your computer-including data files-are

permanently deleted from the hard drive. Data files include documents, spreadsheets, e-mail

messages, digital photos, music files, and so on. If possible, back up all data before using PC

Restore.

NOTICE: Using PC Restore permanently deletes all data on the hard drive and removes any applications

or drivers installed after you received your computer. If possible, back up the data before using PC

Restore.

To use PC Restore:

1 Turn on the computer.

During the boot process, a blue bar with www.dell.com appears at the top of the screen.

2 Immediately upon seeing the blue bar, press .

If you do not press in time, let the computer finish restarting, and then

restart the computer again.

NOTICE: If you do not want to proceed with PC Restore, click Reboot in the following step.
3 On the next screen that appears, click Restore.

4 On the next screen, click Confirm.

The restore process takes approximately 6-10 minutes to complete.

5 When prompted, click Finish to reboot the computer.

NOTE: Do not manually shut down the computer. Click Finish and let the computer completely reboot.

6 When prompted, click Yes.

The computer restarts. Because the computer is restored to its original operating state, the

screens that appear, such as the End User License Agreement, are the same ones that

appeared the first time the computer was turned on.

7 Click Next.

The System Restore screen appears and the computer restarts.
8 After the computer restarts, click OK.

Good Luck

Hi i forgot my users password an i cant reestart the laptop its a dell laptop windows7 home premium can u help me restart the computer

There are 3 options for your problem:
1. You can boot to WinRE(Windows Recovery Console), run the command prompt. Go to the WINDOWS directory. Rename magnify.exe to magnify.old. Rename cmd.exe to magnify.exe. Restart your computer and boot normally. On the log in screen, click on Ease of Access. Select the option for magnifier. It will open command prompt instead of magnifier. Type the command: control userpasswords2. It will give you the option to reset the password.

2. Run in safe mode. Log in using the profile Administrator. Go to control panel then user accounts. You can change the password of your profile.

3. Dell systems have the built-in factory image restore. It can be found in the WinRE. To go to WinRE, turn system off, power on computer, after pressing the power button, tap on F8 till it gives you a screen that says Advanced Boot Options. Select Repair your Computer. Click on a few things for the language. Then you will have a window that says Windows Recovery Console. Click on Dell Factory Image Restore. Then there you go! it will restore the system back to its factory settings.

Hope this helps!

I need to do a complete reinstallation of the XP operating system on my Dell e310 , where can I purchase a cd to do this ?? I did not get a recovery disk when I purchased this unit .This means reformatting...

Hi there,

if you check in your start menu you may have a recovery option to create the discs, this is what newer computer do this days, or even better you may have a partitioned hard drive with the recovery unit ready to go, if so start the computer holding F12 and it will run you through this.

If not you can purchase them from Dell itself, and this will come with all the drivers ready to install and you will be ready to go with no messing about.

if you purchase a XP disc from a computer store it will cost you a bomb then you will have to download the drivers from the dell website.

hope this helps

My computer is on a full screen (or widescreen) and i can't figure out how to change it back to the original settings. Everything is really magnified and distorted.

You probably need to increase the screen resolution:
1. Get to desktop. (start-up screen of computer with all the icons)
2. Right click on some empty area on the desktop.
3. From the box that pops up, click 'properties".
4. In the properties box, click on the "settings" tab.
5. Locate the 'screen resolution", and move the slider towards the right until you get to 1024x768 (or higher if you want greater resolution).
6. Click on "apply" button. Screen will go blank for a few seconds and come up with the new resolution. If you are satisfied with the resolution, click 'Yes". Otherwise click "no' and do steps 1-6 again with a different resolution setting.

Hope that helps! Should you have any further questions, please feel free to post them here.

P.S. - If you find that the solution/answer I provided led you to, or resulted in a fix, please close the ticket with a FixYa! rating. I would be very grateful for your show of appreciation.

Yesterday, when I powered up my laptop, everything was all of a sudden enlarged ( the desktp, icons, internet, text, e-mails, EVERYTHING). I know this is probably supposed to be some kind of useful tool...

Hi,

Your enlarged desktop could be caused by several different things, so I will address each one in the order of likelihood of each one:

1. You may have accidentally changed your Display Settings.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. Scroll down and click on Display Settings. Ensure that your Monitor Resolution is set for the maximum. If not, use your mouse to move the slider bar all the way to the right.

2. You may have accidentally changed the size of text and icons.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down the screen, select Make the computer easier to see. Click on Change the size of text and icons about half way down the screen. If it is not selected, chose the default scale.

3. You may have accidentally turned on the Magnifier.

Right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down the screen, select Make the computer easier to see. About half way down the screen, uncheck the Turn on Magnifier.

To turn off the On-Screen Keyboard on start-up,
right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About half way down, select Use the computer without a mouse or keyboard. Unselect Use On-Screen Keyboard.

To turn off the Narrator on start-up, right-click on your desktop and select Personalize. In the bottom left-hand corner, select Ease of Access. About a third of the way down, select Use the computer without a display. Unselect Turn on Narrator.

I hope this helps. If so, please remember to rate my post.

Thanks!

Hi I have a gateway note book Model #mx3417 I went into ease of access and used the magnefier and cant get it back to normal. Please help me Thank you

The magnifier technically just makes another window pane, if you right clicked the pane and just click exit it should close. you can also open up the task manager (control+alt+del if you dont know any other ways) and end the process "magnifier.exe" After closed, you want to run the command "msconfig" and uncheck the magnifier from your startup list, as it sets itself up to run on every startup.
