NEC LT30 - Lamp dosen't turn on.

When i turn on my NEC LT30, it trys to start op, but after 30 sec. it goes to standby mode and the status indicator is blinking red. According to the troubleshooting in the manual, the problem is: "Lamp Error" "Lamp fails to light. Wait a full minute and then turn on again".
But this dosen't seem to work at all no matter how many minutes i wait. I've also tryet to press the "Power ON" button in 10 sec. to reset the lamp. But with no luck. The lamp dosen't seem to be broken at all when i look at it.

Somebody who have a solution to my problem?

Thanks
Morten

If i can't get any picture and i tryed to press the "Power ON" button for 10 secs. then how can i reset lamp hours?

  • DaveMcCall Apr 17, 2008

My NEC LT30 is also giving the "Lamp Error" code. I've tried re-seating the lamp, unplugging and holding down the power button to clear the residual charges on the circuitry, and even a new lamp. All with the same results. There is no power switch or reset button on this model. Just a power/standby button. I was digging through the user manual to see if there is a button combo for a "hard reset" to the manufacturer's original settings, but I couldn't find one. I also looked for a service manual for this model, but I'm only finding the user manual. HELP!

I'm having the same problem. After the machine attempts to start up, i get the blinking red status light (6 times). The manual says just to wait 1 minute and restart, doesn't work. It seems to work once if i take out and then replace the bulb, but only once, then i have to do it again.

The solution below didn't help. First of all, the lamp must be on to get to the menu to reset the lamp hours. After doing that, it worked twice, but then blinky status light and no lamp again.

From the manual: To reset the lamp hold down the "HELP" button on the remote for 10 sec and the lamp indicator will turn off. Then start up the projector again.

It worked for me!

We have had this problem with two of these. The first one was repaired by replacing the ballast board (NEC P/N 03N-10-0763), but the second one must have other problems, as replacing this part did not help.

I have a NEC mt1055 and the unit just had new bulb put in here and it has the power and standby light come on and the fan doesn't turn on here and the standby light is yellow and status is red

The NEC’s work on a reducing time basis, they count the hours that they have been operational and refer to this as the life of the bulb – 1600 hours. When the 1600 hours has been reached the projector shuts itself down into standby mode never to be restarted even after changing the bulb / filters. This is because the unit needs to be reset, which needs to be done as follows (not included in any of the bulb replacement instructions):-
  • Plug Projector in so it is in standby mode – Orange light lit, Red status light lit (not flashing)
  • Using the remote control, hold down the power off button for 30-45 seconds
  • This will reset the status button, removing the red light
  • Power up the projector and select Menu
  • Select Projector Options
  • Select Set-up – a number of tabs will appear called pages
  • Arrow across the pages (MT850 is Page 5) until an option called “RESET LAMP HOURS” is shown
  • Move onto this option and press enter on the projector itself, confirm that you want to reset the counter
  • Projector is now back to life

This works for all NEC projectors, the page number may be different though where the “RESET LAMP HOURS” option resides.

NEC VT 595 wont turn on. Just red blinking light

I had this same problem with 2 NEC VT595 projectors. My problem was that there was a broken "tab" on the lamp cover (the plastic cover that slides in place over the lamp) that is supposed to depress a switch which insures the lamp cover is in place before operating the projector. The tab was broken in half and not making the connection there for causing the blinking status light (.5 sec on, 2.5 sec off) indicating a lamp housing or cover error.

NEC MT1050 Lamp Error

Does the status light stay on red? If it does then the lamp timer has exspired and will not let the projector turn back on until it is reset, at which time you should replace the lamp. To reset the timer you need the remote control, with the unit plugged in in standby mode hold down the power off button for 30 to 45 seconds until the status light goes off.

NEC LT240 has Power, Status & Lamp indicators lit & wont turn on!

If your bulb finally reaches it's end before you have the chance to replace it you unit will shut itself down and go into a permanent standby mode. Changing the bulb alone will not remedy the issue. The solution is quite simple but not posted in the manual or anywhere else that I could find for that matter! All that is required is to hold down the HELP button on your remote for 10 seconds while aiming at the infrared sensor on the unit. This will reset the units bulb timer and remove it from the standby mode.
