HMy brother just dropped My psp, and now the psp (Slim) will not spin the Disk (UMD). Any thoughts on how i can fix the Loader?

hi! your PSP doesnt need a memory card in order for you to play a UMD disk. have a nice day!!!

The problem is that when your brother dropped it ,, he must have broken something in the reader , where now the reader cant be able to read the UMD disks an easy solution is to make there is no dust in the UMD reading place or trapped in the UMD, second of all if the reader is really broken you can go to the nearest psp fix shop he will tell you the problem and whether you wanna fix it or not... finally, the most preferred way is by giving up on UMD and start using psp isos downloaded from the internet for free,, all you need is a memory stick preferred 2gb or higher... and a CFW which u can find tutorials all over youtube finally you just play the games off of your psp memory stick for free... hope it helps ^^

when you say scanner do you mean laser that reads the umd?

you could replace the laser from one off ebay
but the thing with replacing lasers is that adjusting the laser so it reads the disk it tricky

also you say it is 1 year old from brand new? bought from the shops
call sony as it may just be under warenty

the umd drive is approaching its end of the life. you might need to buy http://www.consolezombie.com/store/slim-replacement-drive-laser-assembly-p-34.html and replace your umd drive. This is what i just did to my psp-2001.

You need a new UMD Drive.

Pick one up on ebay, or from another online source.

Get it modded it's very cheap $20 - $40. You will still be able to play games just look it up "PSP mod" on craigslist.com and you should be able to find something.

Is this happening with every UMD? If so the laser has gone bad. Google tutorials on how to replace it or have it replaced.

look the version of your psp and the umd games.. coz its depends to the version of your psp and the games

No idea, if its not spinning u definitely need to buy a new Laser Assembly. Sry!

Same with my PSP. My son accidentally broken a spring sensor for the UMD when you close the UMD cover of the PSP. That's why the drive doesn't recognize if there's a UMD. Sony Service Center here in the Philippines doesn't have a replacement part for this.
