I bought a sony ericson K850i from the Carphone warehouse with an Orange contract over a month ago. Unfortunately, despite having asked a SIM card update 3 times because I cannot receive/send picture messages, I still haven't solved my problem. I have heard that there is a code that can be downloaded off the internet. Do you know where I can find it?

This is due to the fact that your phone is simlocked for one provider, in your case Orange. You have to ask them for the code to unsimlock it According to the countries, this can be done for free (in several european countries, you have to prove you've been owning the phone for at least 3 to 6 months and your provider has to give you this information). There are other possibilities to have your phone unsimlocked : some shops do it, sometimes legally, sometimes not, with costs that may vary..
try turning off off for a min. or two that always help. call your co. and find out if the tranmitters are working they may be working on something in the area you are at. they can tell you if you have fair, good, or great coverage just by telling them the area ( zip coded) you are in. If all else fails like it my case, request a new phone.
Hi, i purchased the same phone weirdly on the same day too from carphone warehouse. I was tokd the same thing except they basicaly said it was under accidental damage when i clearly wouldnt break my phone after only 3 months. They gave me sony erricsons number & told me to ring them. Instead im going to ring trading standards & get advice from them & i suggest yu do the same.
I assume you did not purchase the phone from a eputable source. The inactive sim message appears in this way when a person reports a sony ericsson phone lost or stolen. The IMEI number (unique to every handset) is used to disable functions of the sim reader.
