InFocus LP 400 Multimedia Projector Logo
Anonymous Posted on Apr 07, 2010

I am trying to set up an InFocus LP400 projector with my computer. I followed the instructions using the CableWizard Lite cable for my laptop pc and get no projected image. I used the suggested port activation commands for the Toshiba that I found in the InFocus user manual and still no picture. Do I need to use the S cable or something? How do I get this projector to work? Thanks

Thanks for the suggestion. I restarted the computer and projector as you described with the computer first and then the projector. That was the only difference in your advice vs the user manual they said projector first... and I got the same result which is the projector saying "No signal detected". I tried the FN/F5, and it did not help. I also tried the suggestions in the user manual for turning on the Toshiba video port and they did not help either.

I am not a whiz with the different ways of connecting the computer to the projector, but followed the instructions for the CableWizard Lite from the user manual. The only other connectors that came with the projector are the S cable and the video/audio cables (red, white, yellow) such as for TVs.

Do you have any other suggestions?

Hello,

start the connecting all over again, by following the steps below:

1. Turn your computer off.

2. Connect the cable from the computer to the projector. If you want to have your monitor to be hooked up as well, connect a splitter to the video out port (DVI or VGA). You can also just hook the projector up to the second port on your video card (If you have one) or if you have a laptop, you can connect to the video out port on the back.

3. Turn the computer on and boot into your desktop.

4. Turn on the projector. Most projectors have an auto detect function, that will detect a video signal and auto configure the projector to display that signal. If you have a laptop, you have to hit a function key to activate the second display. Usually this is FN Key + F5 or one of the F Keys across the top of the laptop keyboard. It looks like two squares, one empty and one with something in it.

5. Adjust the focus, brightness, contrast, and color on the projector.

6. Aim the projector at something white. Try not to aim it at something highly reflective.

7. Step back ... Load up your favorite game or video ... and enjoy.

Your project should work, after following the above instruction.

Good luck.

Infocus lp425z projector pushes latop display to left quarter of output image

Usually this is a hardware acceleration setting problem on the 'advanced' properties setting in your 'screen resolution' properties on your computer. Re-set the hardware acceleration to the 2nd setting and this should fix your issue. We have this regularly when we project on a double projector system and the one projector keeps shifting everything left until we adjust the hardware acceleration settings on the computer. No more issue.

Infocus 5000 won't recognize my computer

How about a little more information?
Does the projector turn on?
has it ever worked?
What type of interface (VGA, DVI, HDMI, RCA)
What type of computer (notebook or desktop)

That being said, double check your cable connections and make sure you tell your computer to look for the projector (Dell laptops used to use FN+F8 to switch from laptop to projector). Windows 7 has a menu choice "Connect to Projector". Mac computers - check system preferences and make sure the projector is ON before you plug it into the Mac.

I have a Dell laptop ready to go with my first Power Point presentation. I check the projector out from the library and there are no instructions. I googled instructions and tried the advice: Push Fn and...

Look for the F-key with a square/icon of a laptop. Press FN+This button until you see your screen display show that it will be using your LCD + the output on your computer. Remember you need to hook both the VGA or HDMI out to the projecter as well as the USB cable.

most likely it is your cable. If a for sure brand new cable doesn't fix it it is most likely the main board. Also try flashing the software again.

if you get no leds, it's the power supply. if you get fans, it may be the colorwheel. if the colorwheel is ok, it's the ballast.

I HAVE A INFOCUS LP420. IT WAS WORKING FINE TILL ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. THE BULB AND EVERYTHING STILL WORKS BUT WHEN YOU CONNECT IT TO A TV OR COMPUTER IT SOMETIMES DOESNT SHOW ON THE SCREEN THAT IT IS...

I'm more of a hands on fixer but here are some options to look at. Have projector up and running before turning on or plugging in whatever device you want to project. Some projectors are picky about this and some arent. Next would be to look at the pins on the cable you are using if you are using a VGA. One pin ascew can throw off the ability to transfer the image. Or maybe she's just trying to tell you that she's ready for retirement. It could be the sync mechanism and cables internally wearing out.

Infocus projector 4805 connected to Toshiba laptop

1.
Connect the external display port on your laptop computer to the projection system, and then turn on the projector. For information about connecting external devices to your laptop, see the documentation for your laptop computer.
2.
Set the display resolution of your laptop computer to match the resolution of the projector system. First, on your laptop, open the Display Properties dialog box by using the Display icon in Control Panel, and click the Settings tab. Then, in Screen resolution area, move the slider to adjust the display resolution of your laptop. If you don't know which setting to choose, try 800 x 600 pixels; this is a common setting for many projector systems.
