If cleaning does not help ,the heads have stopped working

usually no amount of cleaning via the software helps, but you might try soaking the heads in really hot water for a while then using a soft brush to wipe them gently, wipe dry ,then try cleaning a couple of times through the software .

however it sounds like you need to replace the ink cartridge.
if i have been helpful please rate my efforts.

good luck

do an alignment test in the printer software, however

it may be that your printer has the print head in the printer and not on the ink cartridge,in which case changing the ink will not fix it ,looks like a new printer on the way.

White lines on dark photo prints

White lines means some of the print head nozzles maybe blocked.
Try the deep clean print head cycles then do a test print. If this still does not fix the problem then a new print head is required.
Print heads are expensive and if your printer is old then maybe better to put your money towards a new printer.

Canon pixma mp530 not printing colour. The cartridges are new, when I print an alignment, no colour prints, only the black and white. I've performed a clean, deep clean, print head alignment, nozzle...

Inkjet printers need to be used frequently to prevent inkdrying out in the print head nozzles.
If the print head cleaning maintenance routine does not clear the blockages, then print head needs replacing, but it may be expensive.
It may be more cost effective to buy a later model and better printer thanreplace the print head.

The printing is all patching and the lines are either not printed at all, some are clear and some are just spots of lines. I think the nossles may need cleaning but not sure how to. Any other thoughts?

click start
printers and faxes
right click on your printer then click properties
click maintenance
then deep ink cleaning

repeat deep ink cleaning a few times

of it fails
remove ink cartridges and blot them on a piece of cotton soaked in rubbing alcohol until it runs clean.

MAGENTA NOT PRINTING

The other week I had the black print head clog up, requiring daily nozzle deep cleaning [a normal 'ocassional' maintenance function]. Thought I needed a new Print head, so anything worth a try.
I loaded up an old black cartridge [I load all my own......always have] with Isopropyl Alcohol and ran deep clean on that cartridge a couple of times, then repeat printed [6 times] a page full of the number 8 in about half inch character size, to get the alcohol through the nozzles. then Deep cleaned again 3 times, to wash it through the print head.

I reloaded the normal ink filled cartridge and ran the '8' page again till I got good black output. It has now been working without problem, daily, for over a week. Clearly if it's a Magenta only problem, the cleaning as described above would be a bit different, as the magenta is one of 4 colour cartridges.
My printer does quite a lot of work, and was bought at least a couple of years ago, being used daily for alpha numeric and photo printing work. This was the first difficulty I experienced with it.
Hope the above might help.Ken
